This is one of the few Michael Douglas movies I have not seen. Has anybody seen it and is it worth a watch?

It's all right, I found both Douglas and Garcia's characters to be a couple of racist pricks, but that was of course the intention!
Douglas ends up having some good interplay with Takakura Ken, and the Yakuza gangster stuff is pretty well done for an American film!

I love this movie! Great Japan scenery (Cinematography by Jan de Bont) and wonderful Hans Zimmer music. Good actors and action. Get it!

I like it too. My favorite Douglas movie of all time is The Game. I must have seen that one at least 30 times.

Well, they're not klansmen, but shall we settle on racially insensitive? Im probably the least PC guy you'll ever meet. But im deeply into Asian culture, and have studied many facets of it for years, and I think the two American cop characters came across as very disrespectful to the Japanese. but like I said, that was intentional. It's not like the movie itself is racist.

Ahhh, I know what you mean. They were impolite to their own people too. Yup, stereotypical hard core rude NY cops. At least that's what we see in the movies all of the time.

Watched this again earlier today, first time the R1 dvd. Damn it´s good. Douglas at his best, great Garcia, sexy Capshaw, cool Matsuda & Koyama. Get the R1 dvd, it includes great documentaries.

Ah, another movie that I saw at the cinemas. I watched this recently on TV aswell, but the TV people stuffed things up. They forgot to put in the subtitles for the Japanese parts. I was ultra p...issed about it. I have to agree that this is a great movie.
Some people think that Michael Douglas is overrated but I think he is a great actor, and he constantly improves as time goes on.

I first saw "Black Rain" in the theater back in Fall '89. Great thriller, and I liked the storyline & the Japanese setting.
This brought to mind a '70's film I've seen about an American in Japan, "The Yakuza", starring Robert Mitchum.
