I just watched this one for the first time today. A real loaded cast with Robin Williams, Peter Otoole, Rick Moranis, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Twiggy and even Jimmy Cliff. A bit on the wacky side, but fun nevertheless. While I'm on vacation I am going to try and watch some more 80's/tropics kind of movies, any suggestions? In that vein, I watched Volunteers not to long ago as well.

Riptide, I was totally expecting "Club Paradise" to be hilarous, but it just never got off the ground for me. Great cast and the director was Harold Ramis who hit homeruns with "Caddyshack" and "Vacation", so expectations were high.

Thanks for the suggestions Val, believe it or not I haven't seen those two so the well still isn't dry. It's too bad they couldn't have inserted a John Candy cameo in Club Paradise. Drop me a PM sometime because I have a bunch of seldom seen/talked of movies to get your opinion on.

Watched Club Paradise (1986) during the christmas break. I liked it very much. Nice locations, huge cast and i loved the easy-going atmosphere.
Rick moranis and Eugene Levy were excellent and i loved the witty lines from Robin Williams and Peter OŽToole. It was nice to see Jimmy "The Harder They Come" Cliff in this one. He performed few wicked tunes also. Andrea Martin was great and Carey Lowell (Dangerously Close, Licence to Kill) looked superhot.
IŽd read some reviews earlier which made me think that this movie sucks but iŽm glad that i finally bought the dvd. Nice surprise!

i've got club paradise dvd atomik,it's way better than its rep would have you believe,i like the scene when robin williams is scuba diving and he's accidently used a helium tank instead of an oxygen tank and his voice goes all high pitched, hilarious.
a real fun feel good movie.

Haven't seen it yet, but it seems like something I might like, so I'm hoping to in the near future (regardless of final quality, any Candy cameo would of course have made any film better, so all to their worst they couldn't have got him to drop by here, even if it would heavily echo Summer Rental).

Some good summer viewing. I really liked the fact Twiggy was in this. Only exposure of her was her 60's modelling career where she looked kind of androgynous. Nice to see her look blonde and feminine here. Moranis and Levy were a bunch of knucklehads. They made them too over the top.

Any 80s beach / tropics movie list has to include Weekend At Bernie's...
You've already done Volunteers, which is a favorite of mine - in fact I may watch that later on now it's in my head.
