Well, it was announced yesterday that MGM is planning on making "Valley Girl: The Musical". As I type this, a realization that the world of remakes has finally found my all-time fav movie and will undoubtly destroy the original in the minds of future generations. They are keeping the Romeo and Juliet theme, but the storyline and tunes are open to interpetation.
I totally understand and accept that remakes/musicals are all about making money, but it is still sad especially when it's one that you've enjoyed for years. Actually, a musical is better than a remake, but I'm having trouble envisionlng how it will play out.
"Valley Girl" is in the top 5 for several of us, what are your thoughts? I definitely didn't start this to create an ugly debate, but more to get reflections from other fans of the original.

Remakes really don't bother me at all. I will watch them just to compare to the original. Of course, they are never as good.

I posted about it on another area...(I wasn't sure where to put it...since it is new...plus now it's going to be a musical...I didn't know where to stick it...under music, under 80's movies, or under 00's movies.
It kind of was a musical ....it had 2 awesome soundtracks...most movies barely get 1 decent one...but to have 2 of them...how many movies can say that?
The whole movie was set to music.
I am not sure what I think about it...it probably will Gag Me with a Spoon, but I hope it turns out Tripendicular, Fer Shur...that would be Totally Awesome!
