I have been wanting to do this for awhile. I wanted to post pics of how the cover art for many of our beloved 80's classics has changed over the years...some for the worse. What do you guys think? If you have any good examples, add em!
Here goes:

Do you mean from VHS to DVD, or from original poster to DVD??

Cindy, this is an awesome topic. I think one of the worst examples ever is "Happy Birthday To Me" if you can find that one. I'm thinking the new cover art fooled several people into thinking it was a new movie.

Ah, as long as the movie is the same. It's not a big deal. The funnier thing is when someone in the movie becomes alot bigger than they were. A la, Heigl in Roswell, not even on the original cover according to my wife, but now, because she is a draw, they put her front and center.

I have to agree with you there. The one I posted, not the really old one that Muffy found, is just terrible. I hate that stupid bug hat Helen Hunt is wearing. WTF was up with that??

The memories are very important to me, so they sometimes have to be "as is", meaning, when I buy my 80's favorites on DVD, I often scan the original VHS cover and convert it to DVD size....I say "I" but what I really mean is....my wife does this for me....graphic designer. I really love the original images from when I was a kid...that's what brings back the memories for me. I remember ordering "Breakin" from Columbia House and being very disappointed with the cover...totally different than what I had remebered....I think that's the first one I converted.

Juts out of interest, I always try and use the correct vintage ones at the main site but some are definitely wrong... If anyone finds any that are wrong, please let me know
