Ringwald Begs For Sixteen Candles Sequel 1 July 2008 4:59 AM, PDT
Eighties Brat Pack star Molly Ringwald is begging filmmaker John Hughes to make a sequel of 1984 teen movie Sixteen Candles.
Ringwald made her name in the adolescent romantic comedy, the first of a string of collaborations with Hughes.
And 24 years later, the now 40-year-old is campaigning for a follow-up, after Hughes vetoed original plans for a sequel.
Ringwald tells AOL Television, "It was something that I definitely wanted to do, but John Hughes wasn't interested, and I didn't feel comfortable doing it without his involvement.
"If we can get John to agree, I think it would be great. I think there are definitely a lot of people who would love to see it, and I would love to do it.
"I think that Sixteen Candles lends itself to (a sequel). It was such a Cinderella story. And I was interested to see what happened to this girl."
How cool would this be? The theaters would be packed! Seriously...who doesn't know/like this movie? Come on John, get out of hiding. Show em how it's done!!

Sounds like she's begging for money to me. If she needs money so bad why doesn't she play the guitar on a street corner and have people throw money into the guitar case

OK - so she got thrown off of Some Kind Of Wonderful (or quit, don't really care which) and John Hughes said he'd never work with her again, and never has.....
So this sequel is gonna be made - how?

Did she say if he didn't want to do it, she still wanted too without him??
I want to know what happened to all those people too...
it would be cool to do a reunion movie.....
It will be sad though that alot of the grandparents and even some of the parents are dead now...so they can't be in it....
Molly really hasn't done anything in awhile, and this movie is HUGE...it would make a ton of money...
the only thing I'd hate to see is them totally ruin it...because if they don't do it...you can make up your own version as to what happened to everyone....if they do it and goof it up...then when you watch the original...you'll think about what's coming in the future for them and it will mess everything all up.
The fact that Jake Ryan has vanished in real life, and nobody ever sees or hears from him.....to get him back in a movie...they have to do it perfectly...because it's like he's a mysterious person anyway...and if they bring him back ,that would blow his whole mystery away of what happened to him... because he'd be back in public again.

They'd now have to call it 40 Candles or either get a bunch of talentless young kids to do a remake. I can't see it being pulled off personally either way. Where's the "leave well enough alone" people on this one?

You crack me up Sammy...
If they did and called it 40 Candles I'd go see it. They could show everyone as a parent dealing with there own teenagers... I could be good...

Yeah, if Molly did that, she just might happen to watch Tatum O'Neal buying crack cocaine at that same street corner!
