I think the film was from the late 80's. I remember a father taking his son away to what i think was Disney Land and for some reason he set fire to the room they were staying in with his son still in it. The son survived but was severly burnt and i think the rest of the film was about the boy recovering phisically and mentally from what had happened. Thats all i can really remember i Know its a bit vague but can somebody please help. This ones been doing my head in for years!!!

Okay, I've seen this movie. I remember watching it on tv in 1988 and I still don't think I've recovered. This had to be the most horrifying thing I've ever seen probably to this day. It certainly messed my little 13 year old mind up. When they showed this child with all the burns, I lost it. I was so upset! I thought it was too much for tv. Wasn't this based on a true story and wasn't Bernadette Peters the mother? Dear God, what an awful thing .

Glad I could help Hewzy...Cindy, that is correct that it was based on a true story. Very very sad.

I was just talking about this movie to my sister. We are having an 80's revival at our parents house. What a sad movie. I was 5 when it first was on TV. I can still remember it very clearly.
