Does anybody know if 1984's 'Firstborn' is on DVD?..I mean that was one of the first REAL movies about family crisis. That movie stunned audiences for years afterwards, if you ask me it was Mr. Roboweller's only good role. You've got this incredible unknown (Christopher Collet) who would become another very underappreciated true talent, the beginning of Corey Haim and Peter Weller..who doesn't have a shaved head or ride around on a Harley with a shotgun..He's just your average middle class working man but with this intimidating stare that gives hint to something going really wrong. What got me was how he had good intentions, but an evil personality. He wants to help Teri Garr and her boys make money on a long-shot restaurant, but invests his money in Cocaine instead of stocks. I'd buy this DVD when I have kids in the future just to turn them away from drugs, it sure scared the hell out of me when I was younger..

Which is why I think VHS will never die. Every movie known to man will never be converted. Like I doubt one of our faves, Night of the Comet, will ever see DVD (writer-director Thom Eberhardt even said he doesn't know who owns the rights anymore).

But, Firstborn, awesome flick. One of those great 80s family dramas they don't make anymore. In the vein of "Shoot the Moon" or even "La Bamba".
