when I was a kid I went to see DESPERATLY SEEKING SUSAN with my mother. It was a Double Feature and the first movie was INTO THE NIGHT with Michelle Pfeiffer and Jeff Goldblum. We ended up enjoying THAt one more than the movie we came to see!

In "Authior Author", Al Pacino is a playwright (in New York I think). His wife leaves him and also leaves behind her four kids (which are from at least two previous marriages)....and I think he has one kid from a previous relationship. He needs to balance his career (currently very busy with a broadway production) with looking after five kids on his own. Kinda has an 80's sitcom feel....a bit cheesy, but I really like it.

'Author Author' is a pretty entertaining early 80's dramedy, but the opening song is the single most saccharine-sweet vomit-inducing sappy slice of bilge that's ever been recorded.
Now 'Into the Night' was a film I used to think was terrific! I haven't seen it in years though.

Here's a couple of slightly more obscure ones: 'The Bay Boy' and 'Crazy Moon' starring Keifer Sutherland. 'Heaven Help Us' with Andrew McCarthy. 'Fire with Fire' starring Virginia Madsen. Actually, there are probably more 'obscure' movies than there are really famous ones!

Thunder Alley is a good 80s flick:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090168/

It's about a group of friends that start a rock & roll band in Arizona. Boy meets girl, boy becomes famous, one of them gets mixed-up in drugs... yatta yatta yatta... It's a good flick with good music. It's hard to find, and only on VHS... Try ebay...

I suggest:
They Live (scifi)
Can't Buy Me Love (romantic teen comedy)
Evil Dead II (Horror and you don't have to watch the first to enjoy this sequel)
The Deadly Friend (Teen Horror)
Better Off Dead (Comedy)

Check out the suggestions over here <----

"Radioactive Dreams". Awesome soundtrack and a fun obscure movie. You can watch it in 11 parts on YouTube. "Say Anything" with John Cusack. Classic drama/comedy. "Beat Street". Really well done breakdance oriented drama with a fantastic soundtrack. "Used Cars" with Kurt Russell.

Some real gems that I think don't get enough credit are "Lady Beware" with Diane Lane from 1987, "Making Mr. Right" with John Malkovich from 1987, and "Secret Admirer" with C. Thomas Howell from 1985. If you haven't had a chance to check these out you should. I know that Secret Admirer and Making Mr. Right are available on DVD. I think that Lady Beware still is only available on very rare versions of VHS. I was lucky enough to get a used copy at a discount store. I was so shocked when I was looking through the stuff and there it was. It was the best 9.95 I have ever spent, and that was almost 10 years ago!

Yeah, "Secret Admirer" is a good film. Watched it last month to get my soundtrack in play order.
