So who else is planning on watching April Fool's Day on April Fool's Day?
I always saw the box in the video store (you know, the places that used to have VHS thingies) but never watched it until a few years ago. This is such a fun movie - I can't think of any other quite like it, and that's part of what makes it special. Just wish I had seen it in the 80's!
In unfortunate news, this year brings us a direct to video "remake" with the same title
I will NOT be watching the new one!!
In case anyone is shopping for the DVD, there are 2 covers now... mine has the new cover and I'm a bit bummed out by that. Why must the movie companies mess with the best. I might try to hunt down the original release!

April Fool's Day, IMO, is an under rated classic! The cast rocks...between Clayton Rohner, Amy Steel, Deborah Foreman and Deborah Goodrich you can't go wrong. I love this movie and it fits perfectly for this time of year. It has a great spring/summer feeling about it!
Why on Earth they changed the cover art, is beyond me. The new artwork makes it look like something along the lines of Saw and that is totally inaccurate. April Fool's Day is creepy but not super scary. I guess that is what sells nowdays. Got to go for the shock factor if you wanna make a couple bucks.
In any event, I have to thank my good bud Isis for getting me on to this movie back in the day!! I, like alot of you, will be watching it on April Fools...you just can't mess with tradition !
P.S. And any movie that has a character named Muffy in it, can't be bad.

I especially enjoyed watching it streamed on the main site in HIGH DEFINITION!!!
Anyway, I still love the ending
I'm glad they didn't go with the alternate extended ending that is in the novel of the movie...

Just watched the ISIS fav tonight. It starts off pretty slow for me, but gets better as the movie progresses. The cast really is the strength of this flick.
What makes this your favorite ISIS?

80sRocked is this the first time you ever saw it?
This movie is to me... what Big Trouble in Little China is to Jack Burton.
I LOVE the house that they go to.
I made an entire quilt while watching this movie over and over.
I actually saw it for the first time ...about 7 years ago.
Right before I came to the Rewind.
I Love the Cast...I have pictures from the movie, and several of my friends thought that the pictures of Deborah Foreman...were me. Since she has brown hair in this movie...I do look alot like her.
Plus...she wants to take the house and turn it in to a Country Inn...which is what I do. I love the idea of going with a group of your friends to a remote house like that for the weekend, and just hanging out and cooking supper together...and goofing around...my husband loves the movie The Big Chill-because of that whole kind of bonding with your friends kind of thing.
I love Halloween, so the scary parts aren't scary and gory...and the way that it ends...it was awesome.
The cast is my favorite cast in any movie.
I think Ken Olandt is gorgeous. I love Amy Steel, Deborah Goodrich and Deborah Foreman...I like when they are hanging out in the kitchen cooking and doing the sex survey in the magazine...it's like stuff everyone did when they were younger.
I LOVE the scenery....like on the ferry...and then at the house-some movies I love the landscaping in them.
I love how the house is decorated...it is so much my style.
So, everything about it is cool to me.
I even have a bathrobe that looks like the one Muffy is wearing at the end.
The cast of people all seem like people I would have hung out with in the 80s.
I would totally do something like that to my friends in real life.
I like that it starts slow....it allows the story to develop rather than jumping in and killing people ..one after another-which so many new horror movies do.

I thought that I saw this before, but as I'm watching it, I didn't remember any of it....must have been the first. I agree on the cast. I thought it had it's moments, but wasn't scary to me at all. The ending was very predictable for me too....halfway through the movie, I had it all figured out. But that's common for me. I always figure out the killer/ending/twist, way too early and it ruins it for me. It was still a decent movie though....I would recommend it.

I don't own this on DVD(yet), I think I taped it off tv years ago, and saw it originally in 86. At the time, I wanted to see it because of Thomas F.Wilson, who I thought was hilarious in Back to the Future.

"April Fool's Day" still rocks in my opinion!
I love how the movie opens with the the little home video camera recording the begins of a college spring break. The more times you watch "April Fool's Day" the more you appreciate the fact that Deborah Foreman did such an outstanding job as Muffy/Buffy in this movie. Her role wasn't glamorous and it was definitely a bit spooky, but she nailed what the director was looking for in it. Amy Steel and Ken Olandt seemed to have great chemistry together. Deborah Goodrich as Naughty Nikki was awesomely teamed up again with Clayton Rohner as Chaz.
Even Griffin O'Neal, who only one year later had to deal with the tragedy of accidently killing a friend, was excellent in his role as Skip. Spooky foreshadowing indeed.

Thanks Valley. Deborah Goodrich sure did look great in this one and Clayton Rohner was excellent in everything he did back then.

I thought it was cool that it wasn't super scary. That's what made it good to me. It is a little predictable.
You know what took me forever to figure out....
*****SPOILERS****
at the end...when Muffy gets her throat "slit"...I didn't know who that was...I thought it was going to be her mother. It was Nan. I didn't recognize her with her hair all slicked back.
I caught it later on, that they had been in drama class together...because Nan says to the other guests...Did you see her in Ghosts?
This is a comfort movie to me. I just love everything about the house in the movie. If I could find out where it was filmed, I would go to that house.
