DarkHorizons.com has reported that special effects guru Randall William Cook ('The Gate', 'Gate II', 'King Kong', 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy) is set to direct a 3D remake of 'The Gate'. No word yet on who will be penning the film or what studio will be releasing it. Here's the report...
'The Gate' is one of my all time favorite films...and who better to direct the remake than the special effects creator/ supervisor of the original 1987 movie Randy Cook himself! This is the best news I've read all year! This new version is gonna be AWESOME!

Speaking of The Gate, I just got a 16:9 widescreen DVD of the film that is wayy better than the crappy 4:3 PD release. If anyone would also like a copy, feel free to PM me.

Is that the German one from Sunfilm Entertainment? Released under the Extreme label?

I have a movie called The Gate. I don't know if the same as the one your speaking of, but it is a good movie. But wouldn't it look awful in 3D animation if that's what you mean? I prefer animations in 2D, but The Gate was not animated to start with. Well, 3D animations aren't that bad as long as they're well done, as the Final Fantasy movies.
