I read an article that Cusack stated that he thought he only made 10 great films.
Say Anything Grosse Pointe Blank High Fidelity The Sure Thing The Grifters The Thin Red Line Being John Malkovich Eight Men Out Bullets Over Broadway Max
I for one am very disappointed that he left out Better Off Dead and One Crazy Summer. Those are classic films and without the start of those he wouldn't even have 10 to focus on. What about Stand By Me. I mean I know he had a bit part in it but he was an instrumental character in it.
What do you guys think?

My three favorites are there though: Grosse Point Blank, High Fidelity, and The Sure Thing.

i love the guy to pieces.. and i can watch almost any movie he's in. i agree mamamia, i think he's just being modest. there's such a charm about him, and it reflects in all his roles. i happen to like serendipity..one crazy summer is ok, but better off dead was awesome.
where did you read about him jess??

I read an interview with Savage Steve Holland (the director of Better off Dead and One Crazy Summer) and Dan Schneider (Ricky from Better Off Dead) a while back.
The interview gives a bit of detail about how Cusack hates Better Off Dead and One Crazy Summer (yes, it's very sad).
From the article:
Savage Steve Holland: So we’re all watching the Better Off Dead screening that night, and John walked out of the movie. About 20 minutes into it, he walked out, and he never came back.
The next morning, he basically walked up to me and was like, “You know, you tricked me. Better Off Dead was the worst thing I have ever seen. I will never trust you as a director ever again, so don’t speak to me.”
Dan Schneider: Are you kidding?!
Savage Steve: No, it was that bad. He was just really upset. And I said, “What happened?! What’s wrong?!” And he just said that I sucked, and it was the worst thing he had ever seen, and that I had used him, and made a fool out of him, and all this other stuff.
And I was just stunned, because it was as funny as ****. And he was great in it. And he was helping me edit it throughout the summer.

I don't know what 1408 is, it must be new. I didn't know that he thought he was awful in Better Off Dead. He needs to read some things on here and he will see that he shouldn't feel bad because so many people love the film.
Ronnie--
I found the link on imdb.com where he discussed his top 10. I believe it was guardian.uk.?? It was a British Magazine article I think.
I haven't seen Hot Pursuit, I don't think, one I need to check out.

I’d say John was about right with his list, mine (excluding bit parts like ‘Stand By Me’, ‘Broadcast News’ or ensemble films like ‘The Thin Red Line’) would be...
1. Grosse Pointe Blank 2. Being John Malkovich 3. High Fidelity 4. Tapeheads 5. America’s Sweethearts 6. Con Air 7. Cradle Will Rock / Pushing Tin 8. Money For Nothing 9. Runaway Jury

Watched Tape Heads last night...I liked it ....it has all the makings of a cult classic in my opinion...which means it's slightly weird...very quotable and largely unknown.
Watch it X

Yeah...the European band is called Cube Squared....and the song is written and performed by Devo (trivia)...although it isn't them in the video - I was singing 'Baby doll' and the chicken song all night....as well as saying...'you better get it right this time Hinkle'.....it's def worth buying. I got mine off amazon.

As for cusack slating a lot of his 80s (fan favourite) comedies it does feel a bit of a downer and to me feels a bit like when jennifer connelly gave an interview sometime back and put down the likes of - phenomena and career opportunities which happen to be my two favourite films that she has appeared in and are basically the ones that got me interested in her in the first place.
When the celebs come out and belittle there own films it definitely feels a bit of a bummer if your a big fan of the movie in question.
john cusack claiming he was made to look silly by director savage steve holland in his1985 comedy - better off dead - no,i don't know what he's on about!

Cusack may also wish to include his providing the voice of Dmitry in Anastasia among the winners, as he nails it there.
