I'm about to start beta testing the next phase of the new Rewind which will integrate your iRewind account here with the rest of the site and I'm looking for volunteers to do a bit of quick testing and give some feedback...
...Anyone interested in being part of the testing "Crew"?

I'll get some links up here so that you can do some early testing. Nothing time consuming Just to see if all works OK and security is OK and any suggestions you might have.

Anyone is welcome to try this. iRewind has been a long development, mainly because of the integration with the rest of the site and this messageboard. Security is a big issue, so if everyone can test this scenerio under various conditions and make sure that you're always happy that users security is never compromised.
This test imagines that a user wants to submit an item of trivia (etc) for "The Last Dragon" page (my traditional test title ). If you work out the Rewind Page UID of another movie you can substitute that in the URL.
The look of iRewind at the moment is not in any way representative of the finished product. I've merely used a "quick & dirty" template for testing purposes. Many final actions or messages are not done (& just give minimal output for testing purposes) but this trivia submission system will result in an item of trivia being submitted to the new system, but don't worry, I'll just delete ones that are garbage
Have a play and see what you think. Log out and try again. Try on any other machines you may access this site with. Imagine you are a malicious user trying to do something bad.
PS: There is a known issue with FireFox browsers not self-expanding text windows. I'll fix that.
BTW, You probably already know this as you are still in testing mode, it just stays on this screen after you submit. It doesn't redirect you, or, give you an option to go somewhere else...
Looks good...

No, it's just real basic at this point just for testing
Woah! Joe actually submitted a legit bit of trivia... Making him the first ever user to complete an iRewind submission for real!
So please keep testing folks. What I'm interested in (at this point) is people trying different things to test the security.
Have people tried when not logged in? Does someone fancy logging out, clicking the link, going through the registration process and registering as a new user --then giving me the feedback on how it went? etc.. .

I posted a few more in different categories. Everything is working fine AFAIK. One thing that might be helpful would be to enlarge the text box for submitting info. It's rather small.
Just a thought.
Weeeeeeeeeeee.........

Yeah, needs to be a few lines, don't you think?
It self-expands in Internet Explorer, but that doesn't work in FireFox

Now that you've seen that.... My idea is to give contributors points for their useful contributions... and we all know what points mean?
Well... that and... Access to contributor only areas that might give more info, features etc (unique stuff we don't want harvested onto other sites so easily etc) this would help protect the site, encourage people and hopefully create a sense of community.
...What does everyone else think?

You'll see I've added a "site contributions" number under everyone's profile bits on the left and extra stuff (like number of iRewind Reward points) when you view profile etc and I'm testing that whole business out now.
Not far away now... fingers crossed

This points to the page for The Last Dragon, identified by the bit in the URL that says iPUID=lastdragon:GT, because the page name for the review of The Last Dragon is lastdragon.htm.....
To find the page name for other movies, go to the HOME PAGE, find your movie in the menu list, and just hover your mouse over the title. The page name should appear in your status bar (the box in the bottom left corner of your browser window). Examples: The Last Dragon is lastdragon.htm, and Some Kind Of Wonderful is skwonderful.htm.
To get to the Trivia submission page for your movie, simply substitute the text 'lastdragon' in the URL above for the page name minus the .htm bit (so change 'lastdragon' for 'skwonderful' in my example....)
Clear as mud?

Don't panic folks! This is just a testing phase. I made the decision a few weeks ago to roll this out into the current site before I switch to the new one, so by the end of the coming weekend, I intend that you'll be able to click on links on the existing site pages and use the new system instead
...For now, though, you can use the trick that Paul described. Just replace iPUID=lastdragon with iPUID=xxxxxxx (where xxxxx = the normal filename for the movie, without the .htm)
quote:I originally wrote a review for Mr. Mom which never appeared.
When the new site version rolls out, then loads of submitted pages will be able to be added...
I really am sorry for the delay folks, but you wouldn't believe how much work is involved to make things that actually work properly, securely and reliably!
