Which one gets your vote? It's definitely Saves Christmas for me; the story here has a strong heart, good characterization, and well-thought out humor (Ernest's poor flying skills with the sleigh still kill me 17 years later). Compared to later entries when the character became one dimensional and Jim Varney was clearly tired of doing him, Ernest is pretty fleshed out here and makes a good everyman who somehow is believable in helping St. Nick. Plus, the series's only use of "Vern" and the gags with Ernest trying to help around the house gives it a rare connection to the character's roots in commercials, knowwhatimean?
