I think one of the aspects of the film that make it as cool as it is would be the ending where the gang drift apart when they get older and the accompanying music. At the same time though I wish they had remained close as during the film. I was in a small group growing up also, and like in Stand By Me we drifted apart as well, and the ending of the film really hit me after a viewing in the mid-90s. If there was a sequel , Chris would be the difficult part though, they could be brought back together again. Does anyone else feel the same?

IMO, don't mess with a good thing. I'm not sure a sequel would've done it justice.

If Stephen King didn't write a second book, then it should be left well alone.
Although, if you read his other books, other characters in this story (and others), crop up. I remember that Ace is mentioned in Needful Things.
