Who do you think doesn't get enough respect for the roles they played in making their respective films good? Two immediately come to mind for me: Sallah and Scuttle. The former is really the perfect foil for Indy: down to earth and rational. It's not likely our hero would have gotten close to the Ark without his assistance and hard work ethic (and it's certainly good in today's day and age to have a positive Arab role on screen, someone who tries hard to provide for his family without resorting to anything dire). It was good that they brought him back for Last Crusade (and disappointing to learn they won't be using him in the next one). The latter is a perfect example of how comic relief can be done right in animation. His unwavering support for Ariel's interest in humanity contrasts well with Sebastian's opposition to it (with Flounder fitting nicely somewhere in between), and even though he's clueless in the true definition of the word, he ends up providing much help when all's said and done (and really, if he weren't so ignorant, the happy ending wouldn't have been possible). Despite all that, when was the last time you saw him on ANY company merchandise? It almost seems criminal if you ask me.

*Fidget, from "The Great Mouse Detective" (I have many friends who'd agree with me on this one) *Christopher Tracy...& everyone from "Under The Cherry Moon" *Scuttle (you're not alone on this one, Chris) *The Kid -- everyone loves Morris Day more, but this guy really steals the show...& my heart ^_^ *Tito, from "Oliver & Company" -- too funny to ignore, & the movie is underappreciated anyway *Anybody from "Rock & Rule"
The list only goes on & on...

MacReady from "John Carpenter's The Thing"...one stick of dynamite, one "Yeah...%#&$ you too!" and the guy was catapulted to monster killing cult status! Result!
Gramps from "House 2"...hey, c'mon! That 170 year old fart "broke" a box of tissues! Lol!
Father Karras from "The Exorcist"...the guy willingly welcomes an entire legion of demons into his body and then does himself in! Hardcore or WHAT!

Edgar and Allan (The Frog Brothers) from "The Lost Boys"...yeah, okay...so those two young lunatics caused more property damage than the vampires they were fighting...but did anyone actually thank 'em afterwards for taking out half the bloodsuckers? No! Thanks a bunch, Santa Carla! Lol!
Ed Harley from "Pumpkinhead"...the poor redneck has his only son wiped out by an ***hole on a dirtbike and then is damned for all eternity by a double-crossing, bayou-frequenting witch for simply wanting nothing more than justice for his loss? Motto: Don't live down south!
Burt Gummer from the "Tremors" films...at one point, the ordinance confident, survivalist nutjob ran completely out of ammo during an attack by hideous monsters. *gasp* That's like Elvis Presley running out of fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches! No way! Lol!

Archie Melville from "Night Life"...not only was this poor (but ultimately heroic) geek persecuted by bullying jocks (and then persecuted again when they returned from the dead) he was also forced to work in his strict Uncle's run-down, water-damaged mortuary. "Condensation, Jesus D. God!" Lol.
Chris from "Pumpkinhead"...this halfway decent dude spent most of the film hauling as$ through filthy redneck country trying to get away from an evil, slime-drooling monster. But when he finally procures the vehicular means to ensure a quicker getaway (a handy abandoned motorbike) the creature uses it (and he) as a frisbee, separating our hero's testicles in the process! Ouch!
Roger Mockus from "Trick or Treat"...having completely ignored his friend's request to destroy a demonic audio cassette in order to stop a guitar-wielding supernatural killer, nerdmeister Roger attempts to redeem himself (and halt said nasty) by ramming a crowbar (and his face) into a 400 volt breaker box. Now THAT'S determination! Lol!

Great topic! Have to agree about Scuttle. I'm going to have to disagree about the Frog brothers. Everyone remembers Feldman in that. It was a "Coreys" movie.

Here's one for ya'... Scott Coffey. He was in a bunch of 80s movies and some TV shows. He played a lot of bit parts, but he's got one of those faces that you always recognize when you see him. He played the kid that "really" like Mary Stuart Masterson in Some Kind Of Wonderful. He was also in Ferris Bueller's day off...
The Breather (the killer) from "Student Bodies"..."Why do they always run away from me? It's the galoshes isn't it...they're a dead giveaway! Why do I wear them? It isn't even raining!" Lol!

Eugene from "The Monster Squad"...this under used and underappreciated 5 year old kid actually mobilized the U.S. Army by writing a letter...in CRAYON! I'd like to see someone else with THAT kind of power! Lol!

The Grandpa from The lost boys. He kicked some vampire butt.
And Julie Brown from Earth girls are easy. That movie wouldn't be half as funny without her.

Harold Gorton from "House"...all this annoying neighbor really wanted more than anything was a friend. Someone to lift him out of his lonely, solitary existence. Instead, what does he get? A hideous creature that pops out of a bedroom closet, a complete mental breakdown and (having survived said creature's attack) a one way ticket to the bottom of a whiskey bottle! Poor Harold!

John Larroquette as David, the bow tie wearing lawyer, in the movie "Blind Date". His obsession with Nadia and strained relations with his parents put the comedy in that "romantic comedy".

Glen from "The Gate"...this underappreciated 80's character took out the giant, apocalyptic evil in the movie by shooting a model rocket into it's scaly, heaving chest. If I had known it was THAT easy I would have fired a rocket at my wife years ago! Lol!

The Bit from "Tron"...not only was the poor little CG dude treated as nothing more than "another mouth to feed" in the film...he was also stuck with a two word ('yes' and 'no') vocabulary. Maybe he should have fired his agent!

Horrace from The Monster Squad because we have learned two things from him. 1. Wolfman's got nards! 2. His name is Horrace [as he informs us while c*cking the gun]
aw jeeze apparently we can't say things like 'c*cking the gun' without being censored...

Also I can add Miles and Maizy Russell. They make a very good Grecian chorus for the film's events, not to mention they add much flavor themselves (after all, at least half of what Miles utters throughout the picture is classic). I do like how they're very fair-minded and understanding in contrast to their sister (it's a very good twist on what's becoming an increasingly annoying trait in today's films that not only do they have no apparent gripes about moving to Shermer, but that they defend their parents making this decision against Tia), and how they manage to bring out the best in Buck, even when he doesn't know that he needs to. A measuring stick of most child characters for me is whether I'd want them as my own children in real life. These two I absolutely would.

I'm surprised you got away with 'moosecrack'
My underappreciated character (from yesterday's movie choice) would be Janet Colgate from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Everyone focuses on Steve Martin and Michael Caine in this movie, but the supporting cast is very good indeed. I picked Glenne Headley's character because it's so underplayed, right up to the end where the old switcheroo takes place. I could just as easily have picked Anton Rogers as the police chief, or any of the ladies that get duped along the way.
