Hi all,

Just signed up to this forum & am jumping right in by posting a new topic.

I’m trying to remember the name of an 80’s movie, I saw way back……….…well in the 80’s actually [Roll Eyes]

I can’t recall any of the actors, but the gist of the plot went as follows…..

There’s a young guy who is taking flying lesions, but finding it hard to pay for them. I seem to remember him paying for his introductory lesson with a bag of pennies. He’s also a bit of a whiz on computers & comes up with a way of cloning ATM cards. He uses these cloned cards to withdraw small amounts from dormant accounts, which he’ll use to fund his flying lessons.

There’s a girl involved (isn’t there always !) who predictably shuns his advances initially, but I’m sure in the wind up they end up together. The only thing I remember about her is that she drove a light blue Mazda 626. I also recall that it was a “booted” version rather than the hatchback version we had over here in Ireland at the time.

One really has to wonder how these bizarre little details stick my mind, but there you go [Confused]

I can actually see snippets of the movie in my mind's eye, one that comes to mind, is I can see them (guy & girl) cutting up pieces of plastic the shape of an ATM card & gluing on strips of magnetic tape which had recordings of the account coding

I also seem to recall that the FBI got involved in this, but the upshot of it was that the guy’s endeavours showed a glitch in ATM security, so in the end the FBI or perhaps the bank rewarded him for highlighting the issue. Or at least that’s the way I think it went.

So then the last scene in the movie was the guy, paying for his lessons with the reward & flying off into the wild blue yonder.

Actually when I think about it, it was a precursor for what’s actually happening these days, with people skimming card info as you use an ATM machine, then using that data to “Clean you out !”

So…………anyone know the name of this film ????????

Do you know who Lee Montgomery is? If he was in it it could be Prime Risk.
