Gosh, that's spooky, I've just bought this film on VHS.
I remember renting this film in the 80s for my Mum and Aunties (Mum loved a good horror). She said it was really scary, and I kept running in and out of the room.
Watching it again in 2007 I now wonder what all the fuss is about, it's so dated and not really very scary at all.
Worth a watch though.

The Lamp film I watched wasn't an Amityville one.
It was set in a museum, where a bunch of high school students on a school trip, hide there until everyone has gone home and then spend the night. (One of the girls' fathers works there, so she has keys to all rooms etc).
The lamp (which is an exhibit) is has an old gypsy curse and is possessed by an evil genie, who ends up killing most of them.

I never saw that movie. It's sounds pretty decent. I may buy it also just to check it out. And if you haven't seen Amityville i think 4 or 5 - the lamp, watch it. It's not bad.

For those who might not have heard of the movie it was also called "The Outing" so maybe that rings a bell

Yes that's the one, perhaps it was just called 'The Lamp' here in England!

The outing aka the lamp is being released on blu Ray today paired up with another 80s horror - the godsend.
Always quite enjoyed the outing,I own it on a UK vhs under the alternate title - the lamp, not sure what version of the movie this blu Ray is as there is a us r rated cut of the film and a substantially longer international version.
Which ever version they have chosen to release it is A Fun film with some pretty cool death scenes throughout with one in particular when a young couplple get attacked by some cobra's in a scene that i'd imagine would give anyone with a fear of snakes the real heebie jeebies!
So yeah the outing is a lot of fun, wish i could speak for the other title but i've Never seen 1980s - the godsend before.
