I watched this movie last night and was not too impressed. I love comedy movies, and I love Chevy, but this movie seemed pretty dark. I was not a big fan of it and was wondering what others thought.

Not one of my favorites that he was in but I still liked it. It was very dark and I thought it could have been a little funnier.

I'm forced to admit, even though I idolize Chevy, that it doesn't really do that much for me. The only really interesting bit is his car problems during the opening credits. The third act drags and the final resolution seems a bit forced. I don't know what he could have been thinking to take this and the other mostly non-entity films he did in his "Dark Age" between Caddyshack and the first Vacation film. But it doesn't diminish his standing as a comic giant at all.

i blame it on a young and underdeveloped mind, but i absolutely loved this film when i was a kid! i watched it each and every time it came on as well as "love at first bite". now that i am older, however, i can only wonder "why"?
another one to ponder is "hysterical" with the hudson brothers.

I remember that movie. I also liked it much more as a kid than now. Dabney Coleman was terrific, otherwise it's so-so to me.

Yup. His late night talk show had dibs on diminishing his career.
