this movie was way too cool! i had never seen it until a couple of weeks ago and it definitely has to be one of the most gory zombie movies! it was such a campy movie (just what i like) but the effects were great!
being a fan or horror/zombie flicks, i was glad i finally saw this one, and it was only 7.50 at walmart!
one draw back: (spoiler) i was eating sushi while watching it and when i got to the part where the mother eats her own ear from the custard, i started to feel sick. that NEVER happens to me when watching gory movies but wow, did it make my tummy turn! yuk!
anyone else like it??

Down here it's known as Brain Dead. It's hard to believe that Peter Jackson, best known for Lord of the Rings and King Kong, directed this campy, gory classic.
Brain Dead has a bit of everything - gore, comedy, thrills, chills and romance. The effects are cheap and cheerful (especially of the Sumatran Rat Monkey and the Mother Beast) but so what, it's all part of the fun.
Yeah, it's blood soaked, especially the scene with Lionel fighting off the zombies with a lawnmower, but it's all in good fun.
Previous to Brain Dead, Jackson had made the classic Bad Taste, about a group of pus eating aliens.
It's hard to believe that after making Brain Dead, he moved straight on to Heavenly Creatures, a beautifully made film starring a young Kate Winslet, about a pair of teenage girls in 1950's New Zealand with murder in their hearts.

Mamamia - you are correct, this is the movie!
I watched this movie when I was prob 12 years old. My friend and I had grabbed it from a local super market that rented videos. I hadn't seen it in 20 years and a friend and I were talking and this movie came up. He said he owned it!! So he let me have it and I just watched it this weekend! Man it was so great to see again. I really didn't remember a ton from when I had first seen it. I didn't know it was Peter Jackson, I didn't know it was in NZ. After I watched it and went to bed that night, I woke up the next day and almost watched it again! Such a great cult classic. I think I have to purchase this one!
