Did anyone else know that the movie "Stripes" was originally written and pitched as a Cheech & Chong movie? The studio gave them the greenlight, but the deal fell through. So the screenplay was rewritten and Bill Murray was contacted. Wow...I can't imagine anyone else besides Bill Murray and John Candy in these roles.
I will say that "Stripes" is an awesome comedy for about 2/3 of the movie, but it kind of lost my interest after they graduated. It almost felt like to two different movies as they bust behind enemy lines to save their friends. Overall, still a fine movie with great quotes.

I like when he tells his girlfriend...you can't leave...all the plants will die.
I agree on the beginning part of the movie...I love the "Aunt Jemima" treatment scene.
It did get boring towards the end, and felt like an entirely different movie...it went from being a comedy to a drama...and the end just didn't do it-it lost it's comedic appeal...they never should have done that.
I also like Private Benjamin....I haven't seen either of those movies in a long time. That's another thing about 80's movies...is there are so many good ones...that you can go a long time and not see one, and then when you see it again...you appreciate it even more.
