What is your most fav part of the 80's movies you so love. I know you can say everything, but everybody has one scene or sequence that makes the movie for you. Here are few of mine:

Valley Girl

When Randy comes up behind Julie in the bathroom while "Love My Way" is playing. Then continuing with them cruising in a convertible through Hollywood and the "WHEN CAN I SEE YOU AGAIN" bar scene.

Can't Buy Me Love

When Ronnie goes from totally geek to totally chic and does the African Anteater Dance at the school dance.

Sixteen Candles

The ending with Jake Ryan and Samantha Baker sitting on the table while "If You Were Here" is playing.

Pretty In Pink

When Duckie lip-synchs "Try a Little Tenderness"

Private School

I changed this one recently, it used to be when they played the song "Nasty Girl" when they snuck into the girls dorm, but it is now the aerobics routine to "The American Girl".

Say Anything

The party where Lloyd is key master...what an honor.

Lost Boys

When Michael drinks David's blood and the song "Cry Little Sister" starts to play.

I enjoy all of these movies from start to finish, but these are scenes that I cherish the most in the flicks mentioned. How about you?

I LOVE all those scenes. Actually those are some of my favorites too.

Valley Girl-My favorite scene is where Randy is trying to win Julie back and keeps showing up at all the places she is with Tommy...like the movie theater, where he's wearing the 3D glasses...and Tommy says...oh cool, is this in 3D, and Randy says "No, but your face is"!

Breakin-My favorite scene is when they teach Kelly how to dance, I love when they are wearing their TKO jackets, and laying on the ground and Turbo pokes Kelly in the face, and she smacks him -but in a playful way. I also love when Ozone rips his sleeves off his shirt at the end and starts dancing.

Breakin 2-Electric Boogaloo-I love the entire dinner scene with the parents and Derek.

Fire with Fire-I like the scene where he sneeks in her bedroom and kisses her, and asks her to meet him at the cemetary the next night.

April Fool's Day-I like when all the pranks are happening to everyone...like Arch falling off the chair, and Nikki getting sprayed in the face, and Harv getting the exploding cigar, and Kit and Rob getting the lights that won't shut off.

Private School-I love the American Girl aerobics routine too...I know it by heart. I like when they go to the drug store to buy condoms from Martin Mull and that whole scene how Matthew Modine comes out with toothbrushes.

A love movie montages when they are done really cool, like the one tonight for MGM that I saw before The Good, the Bad & the Ugly- they had some awesome movies clips, that were put together really cool.

The scene in Carrie where she is walking with the blood all over her dress, with the Prom decorations burning in the background is pretty wicked.

I think this is a thread that I will have to keep adding to.

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest

When McMurphy and Chief share a stick of gum and McMurphy finds out that Chief really isn't deaf and dumb.

GoodFellas

The montage when they show all the people that Jimmy had whacked as the keyboard outro to "Layla" is playing

True Romance

When Dennis Hopper's and Christopher Walken's characters have their little conversation about Sicillians. The chemistry in this scene is truly incredible.

Reservoir Dogs

The scene where Mr. Blonde is dancing around to "Stuck in the Middle With You" right before he cut Marvin's ear off

Dazed and Confused

When they walk into the Emporium to the sounds of Bob Dylan's "Hurricane.

Usual Suspects

When Kujan starts putting all the pieces together and discovers that Verbal Kint was indeed Keyser Soze

The G Force scene in the test simulator is classic along with the ninjas when Chevy and Dan first parachute onto land

The Lost Boys
When Jason Patric notices Jamie Gertz dancing
to the band's music on the beach

So many good parts, but my fave would be the party where the Alpha Mu's came and the ceremonious "Wonderjoint" was brought out

Trick or Treat
The arrival of Sammi Curr

Back to School
The Sam Kinison scene where Sam's the professor (everytime I see this scene I miss Sam more and more)

OK... let's give this a try....

Start off with Some Kind Of Wonderful of course - the scene where Watts 'teaches' Keith how to kiss.

Beverly Hills Cop - the banana up the tailpipe scene.

Raiders Of The Lost Ark - where the Arab is waving his sword about, and Indy just shoots him.

The Sure Thing - it's pouring with raining, they are broke, they can't break into a caravan to shelter, and Alison says she has a credit card, but it can only be used for emergencies. Gib looks at her and says 'Well, maybe one will turn up..."

I'm also sure more will turn up later for me - however I really should get back to work now...

Stand By Me

Have to agree with horrorfan that the train tressle scene is a classic of cinema

Full Metal Jacket

When the rest of the squad gives Private Pyle a blanket party to try and help him get the proper motivation

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

When Ferris is racing home to try and make it there before six when his parents will be coming home

Very last scene when Gary sees Rick and Karen kissing and realizes that he's been betrayed. This scene is so spot on realistic that its scary.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High

When Brad has his pool fantasy about Linda in her red bikini to the sounds of The Cars "Moving In Stereo"

A Clockwork Orange

When Alex is brutally attacking the couple whilst he's singing "Singing in the rain"

Here are some more:

-The Gunny dressing down his new recruits in "Full Metal Jacket"

-The scene in "Private School" where a scissors-wielding Betsy looks at a cheerleader's uniform and then breaks the fourth wall with a big grin on her face.

-The sequence in "Trading Places" where Louis, Billy Ray, Ophelia and Coleman play dress-up to distract Clarence Beeks while switching the briefcases.

-The scene in "Die Hard" where John McClane sends an explosives-rigged chair down an elevator shaft. A few seconds later, the flames come flying back up, with McClane uttering "Oh, (bleep)!" and glass shattering on the outside.

-The final battle scene in "Bloodsport".

More to come, I'm sure.

Sincerely,

All the scenes in GMD & Under The Cherry Moon are my favorites! [Big Grin]

As for Purple Rain, though, I have a particular few...

-The Lake Minnetonka scene
-"What's the password?"
-The confrontation between The Kid, Wendy, & Lisa
-The part where Jerome throws the lady in the dumpster

-Planes, Trains and Automobiles: Del drives between the trucks and ends up bending the steering wheel.

-Spaceballs: Helmet suffers the painful effects of stopping directly from ludicrous speed without slowing down first.

-Ghostbusters: Our boys destroy the ballroom trying to get Slimer, especially Venkman pulling the cloth out on the flowers and Egon pouring it all into the bar even after Slimer's well away from it.

-Caddyshack: Al drops anchor on Smalis's boat ("Hey you scratched my anchor!")

-BTTF: Doc's demonstration of how to send Marty back to 1985 creates the world's first Hot Wheels, which prove detrimental to his drapes.

-Ferris Bueller: Rooney gets a kick out of Jeannie-literally.

-Roger Rabbit: Roger shows Eddie that he can take his hand out of a locked cuff if it's funny.

-Uncle Buck: Buck whips up the giant pancakes for Miles's birthday ("You should see the toast, I couldn't even get it through the door!")

-The Man with One Red Shoe: Morris's belief that his wife's making love in the back of an ambulance lands him an early bath.

-The Man with Two Brains: Dr. Hffhrurr (I guess) has to tapdance and sing the Catalina Magdalena Lupinsteina Wollenbeina song to show he's not driving drunk.

-The Blues Brothers: Elwood feels the need to pull over halfway back to Chicago, sending 80 cop cars over the embankment and landing Mercer and the troopers in the back of the truck.

-The Naked Gun: Frank does all in his power to keep the final out from being recorded.

-Christmas Vacation: Clark falls off the roof trying to set the lights up and destroy his neighbors' stereo.

-Scrooged: Frank finds out that "It's a TOASTER!"

-The Great Muppet Caper: Piggy makes her grand entrance into the mallory Gallery and lays it on the bad guys.

Isis, when Ozone and Turbo teach Kelly how to breakdance is my fav scene in Breakin' as well. Breakin' 2 would be Turbo dancing on the ceiling.

Sam, that is a most awesome scene when they walk into the Emporium to the sounds of Bob Dylan's "Hurricane". I remember getting back with my friends from the beach when I was 21 and we were able to find a party on the night we returned. We had been gone for almost two weeks and didn't let anyone know we were back in town yet. When we strolled out of our car toward this massive outdoor party, it was just like that scene. You could tell how much everyone missed us because they basically came running up to us as we entered the party. Totally Cool. [Cool]

Motley, that scene in "The Heavenly Kid" is funny, but I'll go for the more tender scene of Bobby appearing to long lost love Emily.

Kash, have you figured it out yet? huh...who's the best pilot!

Wow Chris & Rocksteady, "Caddyshack" is a movie I have trouble picking the best scene, so for today I'll go with the Baby Ruth Water Ballet. [Razz]

Bionic, the "Jaws" line is the stuff of movie legends.

pettyfan, I must admit that is one satisfying ending to "Can't Buy Me Love", but did they go to the prom or not?

Here are some more:

-The scene in "Beverly Hills Cop 2" where Axel, Taggart and Rosewood sing the theme to "The Dating Game".

-The scene in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" where Cameron looks at the odometor and Ferris warns us about the reaction. We then see the camera fly out of Cameron's mouth as he lets out an ear-piercing yell that can be heard at the top of the Sears tower.

-The scene in "The Blues Brothers" where Aretha Frankin sings "Think" while "Blue" Lou Marini wails on the sax and Jake, Elwood and several customers dance in the diner. I also like the scene where Ray Charles and the Brothers sing "Shake Your Tailfeather" while a group of Chicago citizens dance the dances used in the song.

-The scene in "Weird Science" where we first see Lisa.

-The scene in "They Live" where Nada and Frank have an all-out bone-breaking fight in the alley.

-The very sudden and passionate kiss between Alex and Catherine in "Black Widow".

-The parade sequence in "Batman" with money falling from the sky and The Joker getting his boogie down to Prince's song "Trust".

-The chase scene in "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" where the titular title character leads the Warner Brothers security staff on a mad chase through the lot. The best part is when Pee-Wee, towing a boat with Godzilla in it, zooms into the middle of a Twisted Sister video.

-The scene in "Victor/Victoria" where Julie Andrews performs "Le Jazz Hot" and then reveals herself as a man pretending to be a woman ("Ridiculous!).

-The performance of "Girlfriend Is Better" in "Talking Heads: Stop Making Sense".

-The scene in "Clue" where Col. Mustard says to Wadsworth "Are you trying to make me look like an idiot?". Wadsworth then responds "You don't need any help from me, sir". Col. Mustard then says "That's right".

-The scene with the raid on the train in "The Untouchables".

I'm sure I have a few more left.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff

EDIT:

Leave it to me to remember one more scene after I've posted my latest contribution.

-The scene in "Aliens" where Bishop performs the knife trick on Hudson.

OH ISIS I absolutely love that scene in Fire with Fire when he comes in and wants to meet her. I hope that one gets an official DVD release!

Sixteen Candles: When Jake is dancing with Carolyn and Samantha is watching them, the look between them is priceless!

The Breakfast Club: When they are all sitting around sharing stories of what they did to get detention. I love the fact that this movie could so effectively pull off comedy and drama. John Hughes is just a genius!

Fire with Fire--the scene already mentioned above, when they are dancing together to the song "I Did it For Love", When they are in the tomb with all of the candles.....I need to stop talking I am getting to warm.........hehehe

Clue--the dinner scene when everyone is getting acquainted.

Secret Admirer--When Michael jumps off of the pier to swim after Toni when she is leaving on the school afloat.

The Allnighter--the love scene between CJ and Molly and the Dan Hill song playing.

St. Elmo's Fire--when Kevin is professing his love Leslie. Also when Alex is in the window trying to save Jewels and he turns around and hangs Kevin off of the balcony. I love undying love professing!

Ghostbusters--when Peter Venkman visits Dana Barrett's apartment for the first time and tells her he is madly in love with her. Funny stuff!

About Last Night--the scene in the kitchen by the moonlight when Debbie tells Danny that she loves him. Also I absolutely love the scene with Bob Seger's "Living Inside My Heart" playing.

Oh there are so many many to think of........

Streets Of Fire: The fight in the coffee shop, the rescue scene in the Battery, and the fight between Tom and Raven at the end.

The Princess Bride: the sword-fight between Westley and Inigo Montoya

Clue: The endings (and the first time you see the maid)

The Breakfast Club: "Ruckus? What Ruckus?"

The Outsiders

The discussion between Ponyboy and Cherry Valance as they are walking home from the drive-in. I love where she says "I hope I never see Dallas Winston again. If I do I'd... probably fall in love with him." [Cool]

The awesome vibes at the Dance Cave to the Jamaican version of "This Magic Moment". Though I dig that waterfall as well. True Love! [Wink]

Fast Times At Ridgemont High

First of all Rat, you never let on how much you like a girl. "Oh, Debbie. Hi." Two, you always call the shots. "Kiss me. You won't regret it." Now three, act like wherever you are, that's the place to be. "Isn't this great?" Four, when ordering food, you find out what she wants, then order for the both of you. It's a classy move. "Now, the lady will have the linguini and white clam sauce, and a Coke with no ice." And five, now this is the most important, Rat.
