Hello people, I am new to this forum and would like to say a big hello to all fellow posters.
One question i must ask though is just how famous was Corey in the 1980's and would every teen of that generation remember him?
I am younger and only recently discovered his films and i think they are brilliant but i just wondered how famous he was at the time? Was he just as famous in the UK as he was in the USA and Canada?

Speaking for myself in the US, I was 12 when The Lost Boys came out and 13 when License to Drive came out. He was extremely popular here in the US. He did alot of movies with another Corey, Corey Feldman. Haim went through a period of drug addiction sadly enough, but I think he's clean now...

I think he was very popular. I personally loved him in Lucas...and even in Murphy's Romance..and then like Motley said when he did Liscense to Drive and The Lost Boys...he was so hysterical in those movies, and was so cute, and seemed like a cool guy. It really is a shame as to what happened to him.

Have you seen Silver Bullet? He was really young in that one, but I think his character's souped up wheelchair is freakin' sweet.
Yeah, he was pretty big. I've seen him on my favorite show as well too (he guest-starred on Big Wolf on Campus, but you'll likely never see it), but he's not very big nowadays. I still like him, though. He seems like a nice guy.

Corey haim can be spotted in small roles in movies like FIRST BORN and SECRET ADMIRER.He was also in a Horror movie called SILVER BULLET that he was very good in in his younger days. Then LUCAS. Then THE LOST BOYS,which most people (or at least me) think was his best one. After LOST BOYS, in which he appeared with best friend Corey Feldman, they started making movies together like LICENSE TO DRIVE and DREAM A LITTLE DREAM. (Some other ones too. Check out www.imdb.com) I didn't like the goofy Corey & Corey films that much. Strangley, the two also made a "dirty movie" where they both have sex scenes with Corey Haim's then-girlfriend Nicole CHARLES IN CHARGE Eggert called BLOWN AWAY. I also remember people ALWAYS getting them confused. I liked Corey Haim's older movies and pretty much feel that way about Corey Feldman too (GOONIES, STAND BY ME). Both the Coreys were very popular "hunks" in the '80s and many teen magazines (TEAN BEAT, BOP) would feature interviews and pictures and pinups and posters that girls could put up in their rooms. It was hard to passs by one of these magazines without seeing at least one Corey or both on the cover! Last time I saw Corey Haim he was in the last few minutes of D!CKIE ROBERTS FORMER CHILD STAR singing a song that jokingly poked fun at "washed up child stars". He's also been spotted on eBay selling his extracted wisdom teeth and hair. (Like, ewwww!) I think the Coresy, who both had troubles with drugs, made a name for themselves as "bad boys" and thats why people stopped asking them to make movies, which is a shame.

I always liked his movies. I LOVED The Lost Boys. It's one of my all-time favorites. Lucas was a sweet movie. I thought he was adorable in the 80s. I liked him better than Corey Feldman.

I remember Corey was when he was just a youngin on the canadian TV show the Edison Twins. Loved him in Lucas and Secret Admirer, but his real peak years were Liscence to Drive, Lost Boys and Dream a Little Dream. I even remember him in the short lived sitcim Roomies with Burt Young. Anyway, it's a shame what happened to him with drugs, but it could have been worse, he could have died like Alex Harvey did, a truly troubled soul. Anyway, I hope he makes a comeback of sorts, but it might be too hard. But for a while at least Corey Haim was the "it boy."

You know I have no idea if Haim was big in England, Duckie, Wizard can you help us out? 80's stuff was different in England, I would love to know more about the shows and hearthrobs in 80's England. All I know is the music scene, the teen comedy movie wasn't as big in England as in North America.

Im from the uk and i can remember him being quite big here. Im only 24 but when i was younger i remember teen magazines having posters of him and other actors like Feldman and Fred Savage. If you were to ask people my age or older a lot of them would know who he is if not by his name then by his movies.
Also did you know that in the early 90's Haim dated Victoria Beckham (posh spice)for a while.

He was very well known over here among teenagers in his heyday. 'The Coreys' were well known largely due to the couple of big hit films they had. Although, I think their fame faded sooner over here, 'Dream a Little Dream' had no impact whatsoever.

Corey Feldman was in "The 'Burbs", but as they were best friends in the late 80s the confusion is understandable.
Truthfully, I haven't seen any of the Coreys' movies together with the exception of "The Lost Boys" and even then it was only the last half-hour or so.

i found out about victoria beckham and corey haim back when the spice girls first came out. i read it in a newspaper but i wasnt sure if it was true until i saw her admit it in a interview on mtv

Actually it was. The fact is, we didn't have a film industry in the 80's, so we almost lived on US imports! Some of the films had differing levels of success, but trust me, they were all consumed over here in much the same way they were in the US. Although in those days there was a 6 month time lag between release dates. But that meant that usually, if a film had been a hit in the States, they just imported it with more fanfare and it's success was simply mirrored over here.

I recently saw him on the 100 Greatest Teen stars where he was named number 8, however the reason i originally started this thread was because being younger i have only recently discovered Haim which i guess is unusual considering you no longer hear of him but anyway my bro is like in his early 30's now and i want to ask him if he remembers Haim but i wanted to be sure that he would of known him. Thats why i asked those who were teens in the late 80's how popular he was?

I've always enjoyed Corey Haim. I'd love to see him reappear and have some success. I get the feeling he burned alot of bridges in terms of friendships and whatnot. I found Corey Feldman's remarks on the License to Drive bonus features to be really sarcastic and somewhat mean towards Corey Haim. The part about "I know him loosely," what was that? Did any of you think the same thing? I'd love to know the story there.
I'd also love to know what Nicole Eggert thinks about him after their rocky past.
Did any of you guys see him in a movie called Life 101 with Ami Dolenz from She's Out of Control and Keith Coogan? I found a cheap copy and bought it out of curiousity. I have yet to watch it. I'm pretty sure it won't be another Blown Away !

Nicole Eggert is so hot but i think she is married now with a child and i wouldn't have though that she gives poor Corey much of a thought these days.
I think Feldman's comments on the LTD bonus features were supposed to be taken tongue in cheek as i know they both remain good friends to thsi day and don't seem to have grown up much niether, lol.
Was "Blown away" any good then? I have never seen it but i have heard it's more like a porn film?

According to IMDB Corey haim almost died of a drug overdose and Nicole Eggert was the one whos aved him by either calling the ambulance or driving him to the hospital (I forget which one).
I read that either on HER IMDB page or HIS, can't remember.

Corey Haim/Feldman movies defined the 80s in my opinion. Even Haim's movies in the early 90s were cool because he brought an 80s-type flavour to them (i.e. Fast Getaway 1 & 2, Revenge of the Rollerboys etc.) However, despite my love for Haim and Feldman's movies, I urge all of you to stay away from National Lampoon's Last Resort. I bought it for $4.99 from a bargain bin. Only die-hard fans will be able to watch the movie in its entirety. There was maybe 5 solid minutes that was actually somewhat good. The end credits are worth mentioning because they include a performance by a group called Dread Zeppelin (A cross between Led Zeppelin and Elvis). Surprisingly, I don't regret my purchase at all. Long live the Coreys
