The girl who played Anita...who was Bill Murray's girlfriend, who lives with him at the beginning of the movie...she is really pretty, her name is Roberta Leighton.
I love the line where he says to her...."You can't leave, all the plants will die".
I remember it use to preview on HBO all the time, and that was the scene they previewed...that and the whole "Aunt Jemima" treatment scene.
I think this was a really funny movie for the whole first half of it, but after they get through training...it gets really boring, and I never seem to care if I make it to the end.

I don't know what it is about this one, but I haven't been able to sit through the whole thing. I need to sit down one day and really watch it all of the way through to appreciate it.
My favorite boot camp type film would probablly be Private Benjamin. I love Goldie Hawn! She was one of the first major Hollywood stars to act as well as produce her own films.

"Private Benjamin" is sorta like a chick-flick version of "Stripes"! But I enjoyed both films.
And Goldie Hawn and Eileen Brennan were great in that movie.

Best Boot-camp movie would have to be the first half of Full Metal Jacket
I used to really like Stripes a lot but not as much here in later years. Don't know if it just hasn't stood the test of time as well as other movies from that era or if it's due to the fact that it was overplayed on cable for so many years that I just saw it to many times.

I am with ISIS, I love the first half of the movie, but it seems like the writers ran out of stuff. The only thing that I look forward to when watcing the last half of the flick is the drill show.
'Thats the fact, JACK!'

Similar to what Sam is saying, this movie seemed hilarious in the 80's, but has lost it's luster over time.
I still use some of the quotes from the movie:
Like when I'm late or in trouble...."We were on our way to the BINGO Parlor and the directions got fouled up."
If someone is being psycho..."Lighten Up Francis."
But my all-time favorite that cracks people up is ..."Chicks really dig me because I rarely wear underwear."
Isis & Richie are right that Stripes is almost split into two different movies. The first half is way the best.
