OH I was just reminded of the first time that I saw this movie. It was probablly in the early 90's. I would say during the week as the 7:00 movie. I remember sitting there doing my homework and this coming on and thinking "oh this is on that I haven't seen so I will check it out". BIG MISTAKE. This movie was the most traumitizing movie I can recall ever having seen. I don't know what it was about it but I could not stop crying when I watched it. I don't know if I was afraid for the monkey's life or what?? Still to this day whenever I see that it is on I won't even turn it on to the channel because I think I will suffer a relapse!
Did anyone else experience anything like this when they saw it?? Am I remembering it wrong or something, did they hurt monkies????

It didn't really bring me to tears, but there is something rather unnerving about watching another living creature being repeatedly irradiated. But of course during the height of the Cold War, the military wouldn't have cared too much, since nailing the "Ruskies" was tantamount. I wonder if this is connected to any actual events of some kind?

I saw bits of this movie. The movie was misleading, when i saw Broderick on the cover, his grin made me think it was another feel good Bueller gag fest. I was wrong with this. I seem to recall there where other monkey movies around this time like Moneky Shines. Some bold poster please start some new topic called Favorite 80's Monkey movies. LOL.

I remember that cover now, it was very misleading. I had forgotten about Monkey Shines, doesn't Jason Beghe play a quadrapalegic??? I have only seen bits and pieces of that one and it has been ages ago.

I agree Jessie it makes me cry too! Poor Blue Beard! I actually did like this movie growing up though. I had a weird obession with movies that would make me cry. ET was another one I would watch over and over. But I do love monkeys so I had to watch it. You know but I did think it was a very good movie even if I was only 7 when it came out.
