OK mamamia. I figured 4 years is long enough without an answer to this question. I saw this movie years ago and thought it was pretty good. I just got my hands on a dvd of this(which is now OOP, so I advise you all to grab a copy now before the prices go insane.....they are already rising)and watched it tonight. I still think it was a pretty good flick. Not great, but good enough to buy.
This thriller/suspense movie from 1988 is about a woman(Kim Delaney)who picks up a hitchhiker(Miles O'Keeffe)which leads to all kinds of trouble. I don't want to give too much away, so I'll leave it at that. Some of you might remember that Delaney and O'Keeffe starred together in 1987's "Campus Man," which I also recommend checking out.
Who else saw this and what do you think?

Watched the flick today and it was decent low budget thriller. DidnŽt like the ending that much.

okay.. ive seen this movie 3 times now... first off, i rather liked it for a cheesy no budget movie from the 80's. kinda predicatble.
I had almost the exact same experience in this movie in real life about 6 years ago.wasn't pleasent. Anyway I have 2 questions 1.) What the hell was the killer's motive? the killer( named Kriger) just decided to kill. why? he was hired by arthur to spy on julie. even why julie at the end asks krieger..."why?" he simple doesnt respond. why does he even care? 2.) does anyone have the director's cut? the DVD didnt have the extra scenes on it. i remember seeing this movie on cable tv. they had to cut out some of the sex scenes and to make up for it, they added extra footage. at the very end of the movie it had julie and trey standing on the beach holding hands. there was also more scenes in it here and there. anyone see it? thank you all, -Giselle

First of all giselleV, I own this on dvd and I also did see it on cable many years ago. I don't recall ever seeing that scene at the end with them on the beach. My dvd is not a director's cut either and I don't think they ever made one or ever will. In fact, this movie is now out of print on dvd.

To answer your first question: The private eye Kriger made it quite clear what his motive was when he captured Julia and was going to torture her. Listen to the speech he is giving her about how he hates cheaters and such and he killed the others because they were in the way: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_akIP1yovkPosts: 3614 | From: Caught Somewhere in Time.... | Registered: May 2008 | Site Updates: 101

the deleted scenes were there. chatters were even discussing it over at the IMDM boards. go the the drifter at Internet Movie Database. then scroll down at look at Message Boards. click on that and you will find the topic "different TV version's ending" I remember it quite well, i saw this movie for the first time as a kid. then i saw it two weeks later on HBO which i was glad cause they had the sex scenes and i instantly noticed certain other scenes were cut out.
Krieger's entire motivation was because he hates cheaters??? that's really not much of a motivation. oh well. and since he was hired to spy on Julia, I'm assuming he was spying on Arthur since Kriger knew that "he ****ed around" also. how would he know this unless he followed art around too?

i just watched the movie again. i just noticed...the drifter never changes his clothes during the entire movie...kinda gross..im also assuming he is probably homeless?
and just noticed parallels between Julia's grandfather and the drifter...and parallels between the murderer that larry Brand's character interviews and Kreiger as well... interesting...
