I just watched Dolls on cable tonight. It was freaky! I don't remember hearing of this one when I was little. It was about a small group of people who seek shelter from a storm, while at an old couple's big house, who happen to be dollmakers. At first a married couple and their daughter show up, another guy, and 2 punk rock, Madonna wannabe chicks. It was bugging me, because one of the girls looked so familiar to me, so I looked her up on IMDB and turns out she was the gal who was in the TAKE ON ME vid by A-HA.
I was glad I caught this one. Movies that have dolls or puppets coming to life and killing people have always freaked me out. Has anyone else seen it before?

Wow, Ronnie, I rented Dolls like 2 months ago. My boyfriend thought I was on crack...hahaha. The box drew me in, what can I say ! I had never seen it before but thought it would be a good time. It was sheer 80's!! I liked the big creepy house. Didn't you feel like you were there? And the ending was pretty cool too. I would almost buy this if it were out on DVD. The next one I rent is Dolly Dearest. Have you seen that one Ronnie?

OhmyGod. Bwahahahaha! I saw that many many years ago. I remember the two punky thief girls wanting to steal "Ant-ee-Cues" (Antiques). I watched this with my best friend when we were about 16 and laughed our heads off...although I will admit the theme of "living Dolls" has always scared the Hell out of me. (I dont know how my daughter sleeps with all those dolls stareing at her, I'll tell you what!) I have to order that video now. That's why I hate coming on this website. Someone mentions an oldie and I go out and buy it! (Love the box art with the little doll holding eyeballs!)

It bothered me too....that I knew I knew that girls face from somewhere. Your right: she's the "A-HA girl"! I looked on her imdb page and was surprised she's actually been in a few movies...one of them is a Horror flcik with ADAM ANT called SPELLCASTER. Anyone seen it? Well, I ordered that one too. A fool and their money are soon parted.....

haha good deal mamamia, i would really like to own DOLLS too.
hey cindy, i have seen dolly dearest. actually, it was on cable not too long ago, with commercials of course. it wasn't as good as DOLLS, but the dolly dearest doll was more scary. there were like, bunches of the same doll, with the red dress and long black hair. i can only remember the scene with the doll running around at the end when the barn catches fire-or was it the house? can't remember.
both movies had cool coverboxes.

My husband says that all the time. "Why do you buy these movies. How often are you going to watch them?" and the truth is I watch them a lot! I mean, if you buy DOLLS and watch it every four or five years...well, you got your moneys worth, I think. My record breaker is probably EVIL DEAD. I watch that one all the time.

I heard a rumor this is coming out on DVD so you guys might wanna wait. The vhs copy I bought off eBay the sound was TERRIBLE! I had a really hard time enjoying the movie cuz I felt like I was going deaf and shouting "What? WHAT????" at the screen. It is a pretty dopey movie, but sometimes dopey movies can be fun.

All the discussion today has me watching "Dolls" right now. If you haven't seen this horror flick yet, I highly recommend it. And like Ronnie and Cindy.. I was first intrigued by the 'Madonna wannabe' chicks. So cool about the a-ha music video connection that I remembered reading about in this thread from .. wow.. 2005. Plus, what was my pic above? ha
Creepy! I think I'll sleep in the car instead of spending the night in a musty old house with these two!
Carrie Lorraine was fantastic as Judy. Her imagination totally reminded me of being a kid. My imagination as a little kid often got the best of me.. and I'm sure my mom and dad got tired of checking my closet like in "The Monster Squad".
And Stephen Lee is like a cool big kid that is completely misunderstood by adults. Funny to see him in "Dolls" because I remember him best as the Big Bopper in "La Bamba".
The scene in the attic in the dark where the a-ha girl is right there, but they don't see her tied to the chair was awesome.
Oh and the "when dolls attack" scene is wicked!
Did anyone else hear that a sequel was originally planned?

hi-five Val! I'm glad you also enjoy this movie. It's a great flick. I love the feel of the movie. And the punk rock chicks add to it ha.
That toy soldier kill is pretty funny ha!
I like this movie so much I had a friend send me the score...creepy stuff!
Never heard about a sequel but that would have been interesting.
Did you ever see Dead Silence (2007)? I am sure you did, it's a good 'newer' doll movie.
Wow, I had no idea that was the same guy in La Bamba?! Cool trivia.
I love how when releasing the dvd, they kept the original box cover art. That's not very likely these days, so I appreciated that.
