I have this movie and haven't seen it, I was thinking of watching it tonight. It has Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez in it....it sounds like it will be a good one.

Has anyone seen it...what do they think???

I have actually been watching some movies here lately that I never had a chance to watch, or just never got around to it...but once I get on a role...I try and stick with it...

I am also going to try and watch Convoy too-I bought it last summer on DVD and never watched it either. I need motivated.

Yes, I have seen and have recently been talking to Jessie about it. It's one of my favorite films. Its quite a 'Dark' film and has some very violent scence in it. I suppose it a bit of a low budget to it but Charlie Sheen & Maxwell Caulfield are excellent in it. I don't remember seeing Emilo in it though and I have seen it many times.

It is Maxwell Caulfield, when I looked at the cover of the movie...it just looked like Emilio...I think I got it also mixed up with the movie ...In the Custody of Strangers- and Emilio is in it.

I just dug this movie out, so I think I might go watch it. Hopefully it won't give me nightmares.

They say on the VHS case I have that its based on a true case/events. I did try to look it up but I could never find any trace of it in any crime books.

Oh my gosh...I watched it last night. I could not believe this movie. It was so disturbing. I mean, I watched it the whole way through...it totally kept my attention.

I thought they were going to not be as bad as they turned out to be. I have no clue what the heck Charlie Sheen was doing, he didn't really want to do some of that stuff, and tried to stop Roy...but he would go along with it.

I can't believe they beat that guy over $2.00. I want to look at that again...because did he give the gas station guy 2 $1 bills or a 5 and a 1, cause even so...to go nuts and almost kill a person over $2, was totally shocking. Then the other stuff they did...I was just like....in shock. I was trying to tell my mom about it today, now she might want to see it.

I thought...how insane the whole thing was...I mean they are driving down Hollywood Boulevard saying how crazy looking all the people were, and yet they were crazier than all of them put together.

Yet, Charlie Sheen seemed like he wanted to not be doing some of it...it totally confused me, why he kept going along with Roy. Maxwell Caulfield was so disturbing in this movie, I would have ran from him if I would have seen him after watching that movie. And he was so good looking, and had a honest looking face...and he was nuts.

I could not believe how graphic it was. When they beat the gay guy up...and when they followed that couple home from the arcade, and the whole thing with Patti D'Arbanville...that was awful.

Saint_in_London....I am just really curious how it got to be your favorite all time movie? I don't know if I can actually ever watch it again, knowing what I know is coming now. It just effected my head so badly. Like, I couldn't believe it...it really was well acted..I give it that, but the story is horrific.

Of course it could be true, that stuff actually happens all the time, that's why it is even more scary than something like Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street.

Isis, I just like the film. I do enjoy watching and readng about True Crime. I'm always intrested in what makes these people behave like this. So to see this in a film, these guys acting so crazy is a good film for me to watch.

I like the whole atmosphere thats created in the film, where they are just leading this crazy weekend apart from everyone else in L.A. Like when Bo seems to think that they cam just go home and everything will be forgotten, because they are just kids?

I think Maxwell Caulfields action was really excellent

I guess what you find horrific i just find an intresting film to watch. To see what created these to characters and how they play out in the end...

I did warn you!!

I know...you warned me, and I appreciated the warning. That's actually what made me want to get it out and watch it. When anyone says a movie is their favorite, I always think it must be really good. In it's own strange way it actually was really good, but just so creepy.

I just was wondering what you liked about it, if you would have said something like, boy I relate to that character Roy, and know just how he felt...I would have been going.... [Eek!] [Eek!] [Eek!]

When all he was interested in about joining the military was if you get to kill people...that was not a good sign.

I liked the party scene....it seemed like everyone knew them as trouble, like there was an unspoken history there and that they had bugged everyone.

It is kind of sad...Charlie Sheen was so "optimistic"...even about them having jobs at the factory come that following Monday. Roy was getting all bummed about it,, But "Bo" was saying "hey at least we have jobs." Boy, did Roy go nuts when people called "Bo" -BOB.

I just couldn't understand Charlie Sheen...I think the way it ended was perfect. That's exactly what had to be done.

Yeah, it's ok. Very different. Not a bad movie but not that fantastic either. It's probably worth a watch though.

i've always thought this was a really well made and very underated movie, superb performances from caulfield (can't believe he went from starring in movies like this to seeing him not long back on u.k tv in emerdale farm) and sheen.

remember watching this when it first came out on vhs in the u.k ,we had a local video shop that would literally let you rent anything no matter what your age,so myself and a big group of friends would rent the likes of - porky's,revenge of the nerds, party animal, basically anything we thought our parents wouldn't approve of.

anyhow one of the films we watched was this and i remember my mates and i talked about it for many weeks after,i had the film in my head for a good few days after watching it and that to me is a sign of how well made the movie was to get under my skin like that!

looking through some of the older threads for a few suggestions for what to pick of my shelves for another watch, this is one i'm going check out again shortly,i thought this was a really great film, like lisa lisa said it's quite disturbing in parts.

i remember reading somewhere or i think i might have heard it on the original the boys next door dvd audio commentary that martin sheen attended the premiere with son and star charlie and was slightly appalled with the violence and tone of the movie.

great flick and like atomik mentions it's got a really cool soundtrack.

I have to rewatch it too. I remember I got through some of it, but for whatever reason I didn't finish it. I remember the crazy violence and darkness though. It's funny that you are more ready for violence when it is a horror or martial arts film.

"The Boys Next Door" is one of the films that really surprised me the first time I saw this; obviously the film's title was meant to be ironic.

When Charlie Sheen & his friend ended up going out to L.A. after H.S. graduation, I thought the movie would just show them partying, etc. So, the impromptu crime spree & ensuing violence was quite a shock. The horrible ending was also very surprising.

Very unusual for a teen '80's movie to be this dark; but, that's what made this film stand out amongst many of the other cookie-cutter teen films from that era.
