Does anyone else like this movie with Richard Gere and Kim Basinger??
I remember seeing it for the first time on HBO, and I thought it was great.
Especially the beginning when he is trying to get back to where his partner was.
I really like Richard Gere alot, he's probably one of my favorite leading actors, and I always forget to name him when I am thinking of all the men I like in movies. Probably because he is a little bit older and kind of seems like a loner guy not a group person when you think of the kind of movies he makes.

I thought he was awesome in An Officer And A Gentleman.
I liked No Mercy, but being from that area where it was filmed I think when people make a "Cajun" movie they overact the part especialy the dialogue is put on way too thick. And that scene with them eating crawfish was so dumb. It's like the writers said "hey, Cajuns eat crawfish! Let's put that in the movie!" The worst example of this is the movie The Big Easy. I was embarrased for Cajun people when I saw that movie. Actors think they can go spend a week with some Cajuns and learn to speak like them.
If you want to see a cool '80s movie with Cajuns that I thought was done well watch Southern Comfort. It's about the Louisiana ArmyNational Guard doing exercises in the swamp. I was a member of that outfit for a while.
Maybe I'm just biased because I'm from that area and know how they speak. It probably sounds ok to people who weren't exposed to it on a daily basis.
My best friend's dad ,who I go visit whenever I go home, speaks broken english and can't read or write. He is pure Cajun. He grows a garden and hunts and fishes every day for his food out of a home-made boat. I love eating over there because he and his wife really know how to cook. That's the best cajun food I've ever eaten because it is authentic. They aren't cooking for a resturaunt, they just cook to eat and the eatin' sure is good there. I've been to several crawfish boils at their house and I've even been fishing with the man a time or two. He is so laid back and in a hurry for nothing. He leads such a peaceful, relaxing life with no worries. I like that.
