Hey all, I just got an email today from a yahoo group I'm in that said Teen Witch is finally getting released on dvd. I know there are some people in here who love this movie like I do. It will be released on July 21!! It's gonna be a pretty bare bones dvd but hey at least its not a burned copy like the one I bought. Unfortunately it looks like the soundtrack is still not ever going to be released. Here's a link to the cover art of the new dvd. http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/protectedimage.php?image=DaveFoster/teenwitch_r1pack.jpg Also here's a copy of the email I got talking about the release. Due to the success they had showing it at a midnight show at a theater in los angelos they have decided to release it!! Woohoo!! Muffy you must be as happy as I am!!
Due to the large and enthusiastic turnout from last fall, TEEN WITCH will be getting a couple more midnight show bookings in California. The first will be Friday, May 27th, at Landmark's Nuart Theatre in west Los Angeles, the site of the previous successful performance. The other, date yet to be announced, will be at Landmark's Bridge Theatre in San Francisco. This particular screening should be a lot of fun, as it will be part of the popular "Midnight Mass" series hosted by local drag queen Peaches Christ. These screenings often feature wild preshow antics and contests: you can go to her website (http://www.peacheschrist.com) to see highlights from previous shows.
2. MGM has finally announced a release date for their TEEN WITCH DVD: July 12th. Unfortunately, despite interest from the principals to do commentaries or interviews, it looks like it's going to be a bare-bones release. The specs are:
-1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen & Full Screen transfers -English Stereo Surround -English, French and Spanish subtitles -Original Theatrical Trailer
Still this is good news for anyone who has gotten by with soft-looking bootlegs in the past: a clean, widescreen stereo presentation will finally be available for a SRP of $14.95, less than what those bootlegs have gone for on auction sites, and it will likely be even cheaper in places like Best Buy.

I never saw this movie, and it is only because of this site I ever even heard of it, and now it is one of the ones I have been dying to see, so this is way cool. It will give me something to look forward to watching this summer.
I remember looking forward to going to the movies all summer long, but now I am looking forward to anything being released on DVD that I missed back then.

Cause I had a cool social life in the 80's, and wasn't plopped in front of the TV 24/7. I went to the movies alot, but there were too many to see that were straight to video type movies. I saw alot of HBO in the mid 80's on summer vacation. But towards 85-86, I was always doing something. Like working 2 jobs, and hanging with my friends, going to travel school- we had no cable- so we went to the movies every weekend. Then when I moved to Virginia, we had no movie channel like HBO- but we had MTV- and that's all I watched for 2 years, unless we rented a movie. So, by then it is 1989, and I had a job, I had 2 organizations I did volunteer work at, and I had quite the social life then, and I travelled for free with my job alot-so I was busy, so I still never watched much tv. I have seen alot of movies in the past on HBO, that alot of people don't remember, so it also had alot to do with the HBO time schedule.
Alot of movies I saw right before I joined the Rewind, I had been searching for different actresses and actors that I liked maybe 1 of their movies, so I would find anything they ever did, and watch that. Like Deborah Foreman...I ended up buying April Fool's Day, Waxworks, and My Chauffer, and Jill Schoelen-I got Hot Moves, Curse 2, Cutting Class, Chiller, Popcorn, Rich Girl, and Adventures in Spying, and Betsy Russell-I got Cheerleader Camp, Out of Control and Tomboy- and I ended up liking those too, and they were all done in the 80's, and so that's why I keep looking for stuff from the 80's, cause there was so much stuff, and so far there have only been a few movies from the 80's that I didn't really care to watch again, but most of them have been ones I have now watched repeatedly.
And there are still tons I really want to see, and you just can't find them anywhere any more either.

it slipped my mind that you were a teen in those days... unlike myself who was a little kid in the 80s and watched HBO faithfully. HBO was awesome back then.
back on topic, i love teen witch dearly but as most of us have discussed before, little brother miller was a bit scary.

That is awesome! That is one of my favourite 80's movies. I taped it one night at about midnight and brought it to school with me. The whole grade ended up loving it "Top That" raps could be heard around the school. I'll definitely be buying the DVD and...just maybe....when I do..."I'm gonna be the most pop-u-lar gi-ir-l"
