Now i know alot of you like this movie, and i even said i liked it but after another viewing i am giving my opinion.
Muffy St. John invites a group of her college friends to her parents island for a weekend of sex, violence, and other all-American activities. Even before they arrive the kids are amusing themselves by playing April Fool's Day pranks on each other. Everything is all fun and games until some of the them turn up murdered(!), and now they have to discover who the murder is before they get killed themselves.
This is the movie you've seen on the wall of the video store ever since you had that power Music and Video on the corner. You've always thought about it, but you got Navy SEALs instead. Well, maybe you made the right decision after all. The movie had little blood, little sex, and non-existant death scenes... you didn't see anyone die, you only saw them afterwords. This device is quite necessary to the plot, and the surprise ending, but it made for ****ty Bad Movie Fest material. There were a few funny pranks. Sophmoric humor mostly--falling out of chairs and the like, but that doesn't keep you going long enough to really enjoy this flick. It was a good idea, with a great plot twist at the end (which I won't give away in case you're man enough to sit through the film), but it was carried out in too Disney of a fashion to really suit my tastes. Bottom line: if you dig a tame horror movie than this is the one for you, however if you want sex, violence, and all things pure... see Mulan, you'll have a better chance of finding it there.

I love it too, RHODES. You can diss on the SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT epic saga but when you trash APRIL FOOLS DAY we're going to be standin in front of your house with torches and pitchforks! True...it might not have a lot of blood and nudity.....but I still think its got a clever twist. Maybe for some people this is an "Only Watch Once" movie cuz once they know the "secret" they cant enjoy it as much, but I personally think the charactors in this were more "real" and "fleshed out" than most of the generic teens we see getting hacked up....so we cared if they "lived or died". And its so totally '80s (dig some of those fashions!) that you just gotta love it.

I really like this one, as well. I think it's fitting what Rhodes said about it being a movie we pass in favor of something else. I certainly passed this movie many times before I rented it.
I don't think it's remarkable, but I enjoy it and may get it on DVD once it's cheap enough. Deborah Foreman is always enjoyable.
And, yes, Ken Olandt is dreamy! It's too bad the only softcore skin flick he ever did was that film, A Time to Revenge, which featured Ken rolling about with the likes of a girl giving Christina Aguilera and Tara Reid competition for the World's Worst Boob Job. I'd say his 60-second striptease in Summer School was more bang for the buck!

Waxworks is a great scary movie, the effects are really freaky, the whole scene with the werewolf was one of the scariest scenes to me, and then with the Dracula one, when the guy was laying on the table with his leg missing-that was so gross. I am sure Rhodes thinks it was great.

I caught WAXWORKS on USA UP ALL NIGHT about 10 years ago. I thought it was soooh 80s. It was perfect for USA cause that's all they used to show back in the day was college/teen party movies. I later saw this movie unedited on Showtime. I would'nt mind hav'ing this movie on DVD. I hav'nt seen it in years!

Btw, I agree with almost everyone that posted that "April Fools Day" is a great movie. I love the cast with Amy Steel, Deborah Goodrich, & Deborah Foreman. Not my favorite Deb character, but I think we started to see some of her really personality fer sure.
Rhodes I don't usually agree with you , but the "Waxworks" scene is good. Was she acting or did she really enjoy it too much? Hmmm.
