AH!! this post thing is drivng me crazy. I almost have to preview the post for it to go through. Let's try this again...
Which John Lithgow film are you talking about?? Which Christopher Walken film??
My favorite thrillers are "Fear", "Sleepwalkers", and "Unlawful Entry". These films all exhibit what I like to call the perfect scary scene. They are totally believable
In "Fear" when Reese Witherspoon is trapped in the bathroom by Mark Wahlberg, you can feel the terror that she is going through.
In "Sleepwalkers"--Madchen Amick's character, you can feel how absolutely petrified she is when she is being attacked in the cemetary.
In "Unlawful Entry"--Ray Liotta really appears to scary when he tries to attack them after you already think that he is dead.
It is a good scene like this that can make or break a film. Look at how Jack Nicholson was in "The Shining". Even the little boy who played Danny looked absolutely terrified. That to me is what really makes a great thriller film.

I have definatly seen the John Lithgow bit he's talking about...I think it's from some twighlight zone, tales from the crypt type programme, where there was a few stories, I dont think it's an actual film.

The John Lithgow bit is from Twilight Zone: The Movie. My favorite thrillers would be "The Others", "Identity", and "Misery"

And the Christopher Walken one is "Communion". (Great autobiographical book by Whitley Strieber.)
