As i sit here and watch Valley Girl for the 100th time and still fascinated with Randy & Julie's struggle to be with each other. I can say even after 20 years it's still a good movie The story is great and the acting is surperb. I mean you have one of the greatest actor of Hollywood in his first staring role. Mr. Nic Cage an A-List actor may i add. And of course we can forget the breath of fresh air that is Deborah Foreman and her unforgetable performance as Julie. Which had me wondering if some director in Hollywood has any plans of making this film a remake? I mean they have done a remake of Can't But Me Love with Love Don't Cost A Thang. As you can see buy all the so called teen comedys that are out now-a-day Hollywood is trying to capture sure essence of the 80s genre movies... NOT! But have you ever thought about a Valley Girl remake...... Who would be the perfect Randy & Julie? and would they bring the same energy that Nic & Deb had to the original Valley Girl? In my opinion i think it cant be done it would'nt have the same feel as the original Valley Girl but i could be wrong what do you think?

Of course it wouldn't have the same feel. Although it could generate a great fresh feel of it's own. All it would take is two performers who has the right on screen chemistry. But re-makes as a whole are usually a bad idea. But in rare instances it can work. Look at Last American Virgin, that was a great great film but it was a remake of the Israeli film Lemon Popsicle(or something simillar to that).

Actually, there is a screenplay for a "Valley Girl" movie where Randy & Julie are the parents. It was better than most sequels from what I once read, but I must say, you can never go back and recapture the same magic. Infact, if you're not careful you will destroy the wonderful feelings that make it so special.

I was thinking the same thing Valleycat i would rather see a follow up to Valley Girl rather than see a remake. I've always had my own mental picture about what happens to Randy & Julie after the night of the prom. Like they got married and had kids

Me too C.T. I would like to see how their life together turned out. I love Valley Girl, I'd hate to see them remake it. I kind of thought Clueless was a rip off of Valley Girl, but on a newer level with the type of talk they did.
I love the chemistry between Randy and Julie, and I do think that kind of chemistry does exist between people, you just have to be lucky to ever experience it. I can't think of anyone famous, that I think has the right type of personality to play those characters.
I will never loose how I feel over that movie, nothing can change it for me, ever.
If they remade it I wouldn't watch it.
I wanna keep it alive in my mind and heart and from being here I have even added some newer memories to it, that make it even more sentimential than it had been to me before.

I wish that Nicolas Cage and Deborah Foreman would reprise their roles. This time they have a daughter who is going through the same thing that they went through. Maybe a son that falls for a girl from the wrong side of the tracks. I think that would be worth while. That way it would be a continuation not a remake.
I would also like to see Stacey and Fred together and see how Julie's parents would be as grandparents.

I hope VALLEY GIRL doesnt get re-made. (How could it???It was soooo '80s its almost a Time Capsule!). As for a sequel: Would Nicholas Cage do it? Isnt he too "big" for that now?
