I remember watching a film, possibly a 'made for t.v.' film back when i was 9 or 10, i.e. late 80's. It was about a boy from outer space that was left on a rocky hillside at night time. A big sheriff guy in a brown and black uniform finds him and takes him back to his office. The sheriff is drinking black coffee from a coffee machine and eating some huge salad sandwiches. The sheriff gives the boy one of his sandwiches. The kid eats the sandwich whole in one go and just smiles back to the stunned sheriff. The kid also has with him a black triangular shaped remote control device of some sort which he uses to make things float (i think). The sheriff tries to figure out how it works.
Thats all i remember!
I am trying desparately to remember what this was, if anyone knows or can help or shed any clues on what it might be then please let me know.
Thankyou.

A very enjoyable film, and a UK rental classic. Starring Bud Spencer and Cary Guffey (of 'Close Encounters') it's called 'The Sheriff and the Satellite Kid':
