Hmm I wonder which version of the film they'll release? I believe there are 3 different versions released in total; UK VHS, US VHS, US laserdisc. Guessing as it's a UK release they'll probably use the version put out on VHS. I just hope they don't fudge it up like the UK Flight of the Navigator release which has a poor picture quality. Will have to keep an eye on the BBFC entry for Explorers to see when the DVD gets put up for classification.
IMDB's listing says "Aspect ratio 2.35 : 1" & "Sound Mix: 70 mm 6-Track" so here's hoping for the full works - an anamorphic transfer with the original 5.1 audio. Playing my VHS through my amp which does Dolby Pro-Logic II decodes the stereo sound to 5.1 and sounds great but it wouldn't stand up to the original 5.1.
