The next AFI countdown list is "100 Years, 100 Songs", and in 80s-related news, 62 of the songs on the list of nominees are from 80s movies. Only the 50s have more nominees with 67 songs.

Hey I have checked out the list. I was kind of surprised at some of the ones on there there were not originally written for the film, but released before. For example, Mrs. Doubtfire (1993) Dude Looks Like a Lady. I have scanned the list and here are some that stick out. Many of them do not even need for me to put the film down. Here goes:
Against All Odds Don't You Forget About Me Eye of the Tiger Footloose Endless Love Gangsta's Paradise I Just Called to Say I Love You Hopelessly Devoted to You I'll Melt With You
You all should check it out.

Oops looks like they've moved here's the new link .
But I've got a couple of questions:
Anything Goes from INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM (1984) - will that be in the original Mandarin/Chinese? Where is 'Everbody needs somebody to love?' from 'The Blues Brothers'?
I'd be interested to find what criteria they used in the compilation of the list? Using 'as chosen by experts of the motion picture community' isn't really good enough!
