I was having the hardest time ever thinking of what to get my mom for Xmas, and I got the Columbia House sale book, and it had Shogun and The Thornbirds in it. I had never seen all of The Thornbirds, it was recently on the Hallmark channel, and I missed parts of it, and I haven't seen Shogun since I was a kid-but I remember I really liked it. I have never seen it on tape before now. I think giving movies or tv shows is a great present. Did anyone else remember Shogun??? Watching it in the 80's?

Yeah, I bought both entire series on Vhs, they were on sale in the flyer, Shogun was almost $90, and I'm not sure what the Thornbirds was maybe around $60- I bought her the series of "Roots" last year- I got it brand new off Ebay for $40

My mother, grandmother and aunt are addicted to the Thornbirds! Just recently I saw it's sequel with my grandmother. I'm not sure what channel it was on but it was no good. The original was much better and the score was beautiful.

Oh, Yeah! That series probably started my fascination with Japanese culture. I wish this would be released on DVD, I'd buy it in a heart beat!
