Well I know no one has looked at this post in about a month but I wanted to let people know what I like to do as well! I was just in the mood to finally answer this post!! I have read but made no response... Well here it goes...
~I am getting a double major in interior design (just like Muffy Yea!! ) and Historic Resoration with a minor in business. So yes I will be about 90 when I graduate!!!LOL ( Anyone need there house re~done??? private consulations... ) ~ I used to be a dancer for about 15 years (Jazz, ballet,pointe (toe), tap, Hawaiian, lyrical and senior Jazz company) ~ In high school I was a majorette and colorgaurd member... I like variety ~ I adore the theater and try to get involved with it when ever possible. ( I just starting to sponser the local chapter of ITS (international thespian society) at my old high school ~ I have been in many local productions so I love to act! I am a huge stage hog! Love the limelight! ~ Love everything 80's!!! ~My next love is old buildings!!! hence the historic preservation degree... ~If you love old buildings and gorgeous architecture you should visit detroityes.com my 2nd favorite site and the only other place that I post ~ I love abandoned buildings they have soo much potential!!! ~ I also love to travel!!! My newest goal is to go to every country that I have heritage in... ~ I am a mutt when it comes to nationalities... I am 11 different nationalities!! ~ I have been to London, Paris (twice), Berlin, Amsterdam, and Brussels. Just 6 more countries to go! ~ I love restoring thrift store finds... My apartment is completely decorated with items that cost $10 dollars or less (I guess mainly why I like thrift store finds is because I am a poor college student!!!) ~ I collect unsharpened pencils (weird aye??), records (60's,70's,80's), 80's movies, and purses ~ I also love all home decor shows as well. ~Trading Spaces rules!!!! ~ I also like "what not to wear" ~I love all cultural events any chance I get to learn about another culture or experience their food or music or dance I love it!!! ! I am also engaged to a wonderful man who ROCKS (usually lol)

My other interests include sports, both playing (especially golf) and attending. I attend a lot KC Royals games, Mizzou Football and Basketball, and the occasional KC Chiefs game (those tickets drain the wallet to much to make it a normal activity). I also enjoy traveling as much as possible and am known to to take off at the drop of the hat. One thing I cherish very much as it doesnt happen a whole lot is just getting together with old friends. Talking about the crazy stunts good and bad we used to pull always make for hours of laughter. I am fortunate to live near some very nice lakes so in the summertime the only place to be in order to relax and just hang out is on the water as I milk one of my friends for useage of their boat lol. And lastly I enjoy listining to live music whether its a big time show or just a local talent.

I LOVE MUSIC all music, my favorite music is old skool hardcore, Jungle, Old skool house (acid) and garage (especially 80's House) Trip hop (Portishead, Massive attack) RnB, Soul etc.
I am also on a sound engineering course (well i start it in Jan) which i cant wait for... So i can build a studio in my room and make my own tunes, Im also learning to mix and i wanna be able to scratch too!
Me loves drinking Vodka and getting very very druuuunkk... and spending time with my brother and my friends we normally have partys at my brothers flat at the weekend.
My Fiancee is also my hobbie
I love photographs and home video's im addicted to taking photo's where ever i go.

I go horse-back-riding whenever I find the time. I actually love all kinds of animals, and the one reason I dislike having to work is that I can't have a dog. My boyfriend and me sometimes go to this animal shelter here and take "homeless" dogs for a walk. It just breaks my heart every time, though, having to put him back into his kennel afterwards...
I love reading, and I play the piano.
I also like watching soccer (can't wait for the worldcup 2006 which will be in Germany. RiverPhoenix4life, you should come over and watch it with us! I have a spare bed! )

Deathbystereo-you sound like me with the animals. When I was a veternarian's assistant, I worked at an animal hospital, in downtown Richmond, VA and it was open 24 hours, and sometimes I would have to spend the night there, and be the only one there, it was rather scary. I would watch tv all night, and I'd let all the animals out of their cages, and they would follow me around. I could get any animal to like me, even if they would bite other people-dogs that is....I feel connected to animals. Cats are a different story, I had a cat jump up on my head when I went to put it in a cage, a dog barked and scared it, and it got away, and ran right up my head, and I ended up with 8 stitches, right above my right eyebrow from that cat, it was there to be neutered, so maybe it sensed what was happening, I actually got to perform that surgery all by myself. And every cat I ever adopted turned crazy on me...so cats are probably my least favorite animal. I sometimes like animals more than people. Most of the time, actually. When I was single I use to volunteer at the SPCA and I'd clean out cages and take animals for walks, and I really liked it, they need so much help at them, that if people have free time, and need something worthwhile to do, it makes you feel good when you do things like that.

Isis, I really had to laugh when I read your post because the one animal I really don't like are cats!!! I always feel that they have this kind of sneaky character, I don't know... Looking at a dog you always know exactly wether he's happy or sad or angry or whatever, but with cats I have absolutely no clue. Somehow, dogs are like little boys and cats seem to me like ill tempered women. Well, of course there probably are exceptions and I apologize to all the cat lovers on this site - probably I'd think differently if I had a cat, who knows? I know that many people love cats for their independence, but they are just not for me. As I said, I apologize if I offended any cat lover here, I guess I just don't know cats very well.

Its Weird cos i dont like cats either, i find them very snooty!
I love animals, my favorite animal is Elephants and dogs.
I had an American Pitbull called Punch for 16 years up until last christmas, He was beige, with white paws, a white tip on his tail and some black patch on his face, he was absolutely gorgeous... I wil post a picture v soon so you can see...
Who else has got pets and what are all your favorite animals???

All CATS are great I love 'em,the crazy balls of purrin' fluff. I truly believe that everybody should own at least 17 cats.This is the number needed to achieve perfect harmonious living between humans and felines.Just imagine the syncronised puuuuurrrrrrr.

I never said I hated cats, I said they are my "least" favorite animal, probably because of all the trauma they caused me. I like them though..but every cat I spared it's life, did weird stuff, like I had a black cat that was a boy, and we neutered him, but he still tried to love up my blanket-he was a total sleaze, and you'd catch him, and say "knock it off" and he'd take off, and flip, and hit the wall, like he knew he got caught. Then I had another cat, it would get scared of my Grandpa's dog, and climb up pine trees and never come back, I had to climb up them and pry her loose, and then I had a cat who went to the bathroom in all my house plants. They stink too, I had 2 cats in my apartment when I was single, they were strays...and my room mate would call my room the bog of the eternal stench from Labyrinth..and I am a neat freak, so that made me mad at them for being such pigs. I loved my dog we had growing up, his name was Teddy, and he was part collie and part St. Bernard. He was so well trained, that I could walk him beside me, I had a paper route, and I didn't even need a leash for him. He loved all of our wild animals we had. We saved a bunch of orphaned animals. I had a pet skunk, 6 raccoons, a sparrow hawk-which I saved from being stoned to death at camp from some mean kids, and it couldn't fly when I found it, but I taught it, and he would land on Teddy's head, it was so cool. Teddy would let the raccoons climb on his back, and he'd carry them around in his mouth. I had a red fox- we stole him from people who had him chained up by a road as a pet, and he was abused-and we kept him then let him go in a game preserve, and a squirrel-which should have been cat food, our cats use to leave them as peace offerings on our porch, and some were still alive. My Aunt worked for Greenpeace, and Funds for Animals, and meet Cleveland Amory-who was a fantastic animal rights advocate-he would go and lay on the baby harp seals, so the hunters couldn't club them to death. He has since died, but he wrote a great book called "Mankind" I drew a calendar for him, back in the 80's, with animals on it. My Aunt also worked for Defenders of Wildlife, and she funded her own organization called End-Trap, to try and band the Leg Hold trap in Vermont. Ellen Jarekie was in her organization-she does the house mouse designs, her stuff is all over the world not, it is in national magazines, I have her autograph, she wrote me a letter once. My Aunt is in Arizona now, working at a parrot hatchery, and takes in tropical birds that people get as pets, and don't realize how long they live,and the amount of work they are. I love all animals. I really hate zoos, it is sad that some kids will never see certain animals, because they are so close to becoming extinct already, that's the only reason a zoo is now a good thing. I have held a baby lion cub before, and I have petted a giraffe up close and personal. I have no fear of any animal, and like I said before, I am one of the biggest anti-hunting people your ever gonna come across.

I feel the same way Isis. I looovvveeee dogs! All kind and every kind. To me, cats are just way to independednt. Oh and right on deathbystereo, that would be a hoot.

I consider myself a dog person, but I love cats too. I had a cat growing up that I just adored. I think when you get an animal you should get them young. They get to know you and are more intelligent and better behaved. My own experiences...
Isis...I understand that you are anti-hunting. That's wonderful; we all have different causes we feel strongly about. I remember a few comments you made some time ago that have been really bugging me. Usually I let things that are said on a message board go…but the ones you’ve said have stuck with me. You said awhile ago that if you’ve ever said anything that offended someone to let you know, well here goes…
A while ago you had mentioned that you were anti-hunting and then went on to say that you think anyone who hunts should be harmed themselves. I can’t remember the exact wording, but you were talking about people who harm animals. I think people who abuse animals should be dealt with in the same manner, but I have a different opinion on hunting. Hunting has been around since the beginning of time; it’s how we as a human race survived. Granted that doesn’t mean that we should hunt today given the fact that there are foodstuffs everywhere. I was just offended because most of my family hunts. I do not. I don’t think I could bring myself to shoot an animal, but just because I feel that way doesn’t mean I’m going to keep my family from doing something they enjoy. My whole point is that I was really offended when you made the comment that people who hunt and harm animals should be harmed themselves. All I could think of was the people in my family who you think that because they hunt they need to be hurt. Hunting is a sport and a way to keep certain animal populations in control. I guess for an analogy you could look at hunting the same way as abortion. Some people choose to end a life and others don’t. The problem is that some people insist that their opinion is right and force it on others, that’s when you get the radicals that bomb clinics, etc. I just felt that you were starting down that radical approach by implying that my family should be harmed because they hunt. My family loves animals as well; we practically had a zoo when I was growing up of all kinds of animals. I guess I feel like I’m going on and on now, but I just wanted to get that “off my chest”. I wasn’t going to let it bother me, but for some reason it does. I don’t want to keep anyone from expressing their own opinions, that’s what makes us free, but when you start to talk about others being harmed because of a legal choice they make, I get a little upset. I don’t want to start a flame war so please don’t take offence.

I don't think you understood exactly what I said. I don't want anyone to get hurt. And my family hunts, my father and my brother do too, and I lived in PA where I never come across anyone who doesn't. I don't want anyone to get hurt, but I know people have been hurt..I have at least 3 friends, who someone in their family was killed in a hunting accident, and I just think that if your out there with a gun, it's not really an accident, cause that's what can happen. And there is no population problem, the game commission stocks the wildlife, for the shear purpose of having something for the hunters to kill. Small game, like pheasants, and grouse, and even deer have been purchased from other states, and the birds are raised in captivity then released in to the wild, because the hunting industry is a billion dollar industry. More deer are killed by cars during hunting season than any time of the year, because hunters stir them up and they are running for their lives. I actually saw a deer run in to my downtown, and jump through a bank window, because it was so scared. It is a very touchy subject, and 1 a have dealt with since I was a kid. I'd go to my best friends houses for supper, and her dad would cook something for dinner, then tell me afterwards I just ate a rabbit or a deer, and they thought that was hilarious. I think kids as young as 9 have been out there with a gun, and that just makes me ill, most men that were honest that I talked to about hunting, told me it was extrememly traumatic for them to actually kill something, that they only did it, cause their dad wanted them too, and it was probably the only thing their Dad ever did with them. I just know around here, guys get drunk, and have guns and are out in the woods shooting at anything that moves, and I am scared all the time, for my husband driving home in the dark, that a deer will jump out and he'll wreck. People have been hit by stray bullets in their own backyards around here. We just don't live in a time period anymore that people should be out killing their own food. I think I might have said that if someone has a heart attack out there because they were too out of shape to begin with..when they are out there to take a life, I can't feel too sorry for that. I don't want that to happen for anyone, but that's because of my belief that they shouldn't be there in the first place. I am sorry if I offended you or anyone else on this subject, I will do that though, when it comes to this one particular subject, I have very extreme views on it. And it is happening right now, we are coming in to deer season, and it puts me on edge very much, and it makes me physically sick. People do hunt that I am around, but they know not to talk to me about it, or I go bananas, and they respect how I feel, even though they want to convince me that what they are doing is justified by something like controllling the population, when I have done so much research on all of this. Or how they are killing off the sick and would I rather they starved to death. The sick are gonna die any way, when some one is out hunting they are looking for the biggest rack, the nicest looking animal they can find, so that theroy doesn't sit right with me either. Archery season just makes me even sicker, to think of an animal running around with a bow stuck in it, and die a horrible death, I can't understand people loving and enjoying doing something like that, that is the part-I guess that freaks me out more than anything, is when someone actually enjoys killing something, not out of something you had to do long ago to stay alive.

You may not want them to get hurt, but your comment as follows is what really got me...

I'll agree that there are a lot of dumb hunters out there. People who shouldn't have a gun and don't know how to use it. But to use the fact that someone gets hurt as an excuse to blame them for hunting is silly.
I really didn't want to argue about this. I just wanted to let you know that yes you did offend me. I expect to be offended every time I go on the internet, but you just struck a cord when you implied that if someone were to get hurt, while dealing with animals, it's their own dumb fault.
Let's leave our personal issues at home and get back to talking about what we all love...the 80s.

My entire family hunts. I eat the products they bring home, but I myself will not hunt.
I live in Wisconsin where hunting is a part and a way of life. The deer population gets WAY out of control sometimes. You'll see deer in your nieghborhood running down your streets and on the interstate.
That's scary because when there are too many deer about, it causes traffic accidents and a few people die each year.
Ssame goes for hunting too. We've already had our first hunting death yesterday.
That's the reason I myself don't hunt. I know around here we have to, only to keep the population down, but a 3 year old was killed. Like Isis, I don't want people to get hurt.

Janette- That statement, I was talking about the Seigfried and Roy tiger incident. Which I totally stand behind what I said. I was talking about animal abuse there, not hunting. Those are 2 separate issues for me. Animal abuse is worse in my book, and I do feel like-good if your abusing an animal, and get hurt in the process-good for ya. That's exactly what I mean. I do not mean if your out there hunting you deserve to die. If my brother was out hunting, and was killed by a bullet meant for a deer, I would not be glad he was killed.It would rip me apart. I would be so angry that he was out there to begin with, and was out their taking a risk with his life, to kill something, and he got killed, for what? He sure doesn't need it for food, because he'll starve to death. That happens all the time. I know in some states they have an over abundance of deer, but that is because of us destroying all the land, and developing it, and killing off all the natural predators, like mountain lions-they are on the endangered species list. I am glad that you said what I said, because at least I understand where it came from, and I wanted to say that I do not want anyone to get hurt, animal or people.

Oh, and yesterday, a guy that works with my husband, he smashed the hood in, on one of their company vehicles, hit a deer- $750 for a new hood, and my husband's boss swerved to keep from hitting a deer just 2 weeks ago, and rolled his Jeep, and landed on the railroad tracks with a train coming, and had to get out, and stop the train, he could have been killed, and no one was injured, they all walk away, except the deer, who was trying to get away from being killed, and got killed anyway, but could have killed a few innocent people in the process. I just don't agree with any of it, and it really bothers me, I won't talk about it anymore on here though, because I know it can be offensive, and I apologize to anyone else if I offended them, it is just something I feel very stongly about.

Nature of course got out of balance because of us. But being as it is, I do also see the need, or rather: the sense in shooting some animals. But it becomes a major problem when every person can just go out and have a go at hunting! I think these things need severe regulations. Here, you need a special licence to hunt, which includes very specific laws and codes of behaviour. I can't remember ever hearing about people accidentally killing other people when hunting, things like these would be in the news.
Apart from the whole issue about nature and killing animals, I find this whole discussion about hunting being a threat also to other people kind of strange in a country where every person can own and carry a gun, no matter how ignorant and irresponsible he is!!!!!

That is so true... do they let children as young as 9 go out with a big rifle? Cripe I have seen kids that can barely lift the gun, being drug out there in the woods by their parent. I have said it before..I have never seen in other countries the things I do here, with kids getting access to a gun and going in to a school and shooting their teacher or some of their friends. I live with that fear all the time, and there is nothing you can do about it either. You can live your life in your home under your rules, but you can't make others believe in what you do.

Oh I see. I’m glad you explained that to me. I was so confused as to why someone with family that hunts as well would feel that strongly towards hunting. I would rather have my family home safe and sound instead of being out hunting, but I can’t stop them from going out. All I can do is pray for a safe return.
As far as a person enjoying to hunt…I asked my husband and father the same question. “Don’t you feel extremely guilty killing an innocent animal?” Their response was that they don’t enjoy the fact that they are killing an animal, but it’s the thrill of the hunt. Obviously they enjoy it otherwise they wouldn’t do it, but I think it’s the thrill. The adrenaline pumps and it’s the whole thrill of “will I get one”. I’m not trying to defend what they do; I’m just trying to explain it. Of course you probably get into those same discussions with your family as well.
Your comments just seem to hit a little too close to home and I think that’s why it bothered me so much. My father had a very good friend who was a great husband and father. He was a Boy Scout leader to a group of young men who were disabled and disobedient to most adults. My dad’s friend gave those boys a chance to learn and grow; he was a very good man. He was healthy, but after a week of hunting he went home and died of a heart attack. It was a huge surprise to all of us because he seemed so strong and healthy. It’s hard for me to understand why someone would be so unsympathetic to the fact that this good man had died because he over exerted himself hunting. It wasn’t that he was unhealthy; it was his time to go home.
I’m sorry to hear about the accidents. We get a lot of them here as well. But how do you know for sure those deer are running from a hunter? Do you hear the shots? It’s harvest time and perhaps the deer are running from the tractors that are clearing the fields. It’s all speculation and to blame every deer running across the street on a hunter is pushing it.
I appreciate your explanation and apology. I don’t want to argue about it at all. I have to agree with you that killing innocent animals isn’t right, hunting is barbaric and should have gone out with the ice age, so to speak.
I agree that nature is out of balance. We as humans can be the biggest threat to animal existence, not only with hunting but also with just existing ourselves. We are taking over the animal’s territories and pushing them out.
I think there needs to be stricter gun control laws, make it harder to get a license to hunt. I read the stories and hear the news; there are idiots out there every day with guns. We need better gun control laws. I feel the same way you do Isis, you can live in your home with your rules but you can’t make others believe what you do. I struggle with that every day. The best you can do is let people know the other side of it (without offending them) and hope that they’ll take what you say to heart. Teach your own children the value of life and hope that the other children that are around you will learn the same.

Janette, I understand completely what your saying, and you did answer yourself when you said when people say they don't enjoy hunting, they like the thrill of it, they just said they like it, and how is killing anything thrilling? If you have compassion for life, it would both your tremendously. I can't see shooting something and watching it die, be thrilling..I guess that's another reason why I hate all the shows like Fear Factor...I can't understand why an animal rights group isn't all over that show, for making people eat different animals body organs-for what?? That show should be banned. There is no purpose for any of that. I am just glad that they stopped making students disect animals in sciene, I remember we had to do a fetal pig in high school, and I couldn't do it, I started gagging and thought I would throw up. You can learn a persons organs from a book and pictures...that whole science project process, never left my mind. It was so gross. My son said they stopped making them use real animals and now they have plastic frogs that look real, but as I have said before-it is pretty much another waste of time, when is knowing the inside's of a frog ever gonna come in handy in life?
