Did anyone here that Roy from Sigfreid and Roy was mauled by one of his white tigers??? He is in serious condition but they think he will make it. But that will be the end of their act in Vegas and pretty much everywhere. They were pretty big in the 80's as I recall. I guess one if not both of them had it coming. They really don't take the greatest care of those animals as it is. Always whipping them and expecting them to do all those silly tricks. I feel bad but it is almost like karma is coming back to bite them in the "bum" so to say or the arm as it was for Roy!!!

Actually right before Roy passed out from the blood loss he requested that the tiger not be put down. Aparently it was one of their veteran tigers so they were pretty close to it and it will hopefully be put in a zoo.

Only in America, do we have men sticking there heads in the mouths of tigers.
Roy, it's a tiger. What on earth have you been thinking about all this time.
He also doesn't want the tiger to be killed. I understand that, but not if I can't function correctly anymore. It would be done for.
We are DEVO
(I like animals, but please, leave them alone, don't use them for your stupid Vegas act.)

That it hadnt happened sooner is what really surprises me. And if they have been using that particular Tiger for a long time, they should have known it was feeling a bit temperamental that night and used another. Course I think Id get pi55ed too if someone smacked me on the nose with a microphone! (not a Tiger I know but I thought the blood was appropriate )

You all make great points. It's not the tigers fault. It's a wild animal leave it alone. That reminds me of a story that happened not to long ago. A circus elephant got loose after crushing it's trainer and the cops shot it t death. I realize the police were scared for the lives of the people around them so thats why they killed it. It just angers me that this poor animal was in captivity in the first place. What right do we have keeping animals locked up for our own benefit?

As a member of PETA, and I was a strict vegetarian for over 10 years, and I am a huge animal lover. I support the SPCA, and the Humane Society. You would never catch me in a fur coat, ever! My Aunt worked for Funds for Animals, Defenders of Wildlife and Greenpeace, and was the founder of End-Trap. It makes me sick- the whole thing. They got filthy rich on animal cruelty, why they were never banned for doing what they did, is so beyond me. I hate hunting, and every year, people are shot out in the woods, from stray bullets, and accidental shooting- nothing is an accident, when you have a gun in your hand. We do not live in a society that we need to hunt for food. Even the poorest person in our country, can get food from food banks, or welfare,or the Salvation Army. When you think about how much it cost to hunt- your equiuptment, your liscense, taking time off work, bullets, your gun, do you know how much meat you could have bought at the store?-to end up with maybe 50 lbs of deer meat? It is all about money. There will always be a population problem, because the game commission will purchased animals from other states, or raise them in controlled areas, and release them in to the wild-in areas they know people will kill them, it is because the state makes so much money off of it. So, anyone who gets hurt as a result of being involved with something that is harmful to animals, they deserve it, cause they were stupid for doing what they were doing in the first place, and I say that's 1 for the animals. Cause if it is a sport, shouldn't it be 2 sided? It is all one sided. Like that Tiger really wanted to be there, unstead of being free with it's own species. I think I might get mad enough and bite someones head off too, if I were made to be their slave.

With this post today, I did make a connection to why sometimes my posts tend to get a little irrate, and alot longer, it's: PMS! But, I still mean everything I say, I just probably don't have it in me on better days to say it all.

I agree with you 100% Isis, PMS or no PMS! People wonder why after all that time the tiger finaly attacked him. Well it's a tiger! Who cares how long they had the animal, it still has primal instincts. Those shows should be outlawed!

Hey everyone, interesting new developments. Last night I was watching Larry King and they had Sigfried on doing an interview. From what the trainers and specialists are saying is that it was not a delberate attack. I guess what happened was Roy tripped and the Tiger broke form to run over and help. As soon as people began to rush on stage to get Roy away from the Tiger, the tiger tried to protect Roy by pulling him backstage. So apparently, this in no way was an attack just a rescue attempt gone awry. I don't think the tiger and neither do the specialists and Sigfried believe in any way that this was intentional. Perhaps, we shouldn't have all jumped to conclusions.

That is wonderful and sad at the same time. The tiger was just trying to protect his owner If they hurt that tiger I swear...... Well I just hope everything goes well.

No not really, that just makes it even more sad, for the tiger to be rescuing the man that made him a slave, that is really really sad. No matter what or how the facts were, that Tiger should not be in a magic act in Las Vegas, for any reason what so ever.
