Hey guys, Am I the only one that finds it funny how everyone wants to get their hands on the same movies but there are some of us that get luckier than others. I live in NYC, most of us know that, I certainly have said it enough. I have a great access to 90% of the videos that I want, they are in stores, or they are on sale at old video stores. But, all in all, I guess I don't have it that bad. I feel bad when people are looking for things that I have, or taped, or can get rather easily. This site has people all over the world but surprisingly enough, mostly over in England, I found it when I was looking for information on the soundtrack of sixteen candles. I am one of the few from NY, and I laugh at the fact that I have to figure out just when certain people are going to be writing. Back to the point... I think that we should have amongst the regulars a database of movies that we all have on tape that we could sell or send to each other. Time is money, but I have weird things like Hamburger the motion picture, Night Patrol, and A night in the life of Jimmy Reardon on tape. I am not saying share and share alike, but if anyone of us is really looking for something, do you think it would be beneficial to have the knowledge of abstract movies that we own on the profile, or is it just better to ask everyone? Maybe I am just rambling, but the 3 o'clock high post got me thinking.

Hey DEVO, I completely agree. If there's a way to add any other fields to our profiles, then we should consider this (Memo to Nick...)
Of course, we should always encourage people to purchase where possible, as we don't want to be seen distributing copies of any copyrighted material (just in case anyone from the RIAA or Hollywood are reading this), but for stuff that's tough to find or out of print, those that can offer some kind of share or swap service could indicate it.
Once it's on the profile, people could converse via Private Messages, so make sure that this is enabled on your profile.

I was the one who posted the Three O'Clock High message and I think putting a list of movies that I own would be something I would definitely do. For me, it would just be a jog of my memory to see something someone else owns that I may have forgotten all about. Like 3 O'Clock High, I had just forgotten about it. When I saw it in the store I grabbed it. I'm sure I could have bought it off the internet for some time. If someone own's something I want and can't find, maybe they could point me in the right direction. That would be great.

Sounds lik a good idea. There are certain films out there that are even impossible to get on e-bay. I'm thinking of stuff like Thunder Alley, Lovelines, Quarteback Princess etc. Things like TV movies or 80's TV shows this would be invaluble for.

My obscure 80's collection grows almost weekly when I pick up something new at a car boot sale, this week I got "Parents (1989)" VHS which is probably the oddest black comedy I've seen in a long time.
