I just watched it on DVD this morning. This movie still cracks me up every time I see it. Val Kilmer was always at his best when he was in a comedic role. I also love the songs that are featured in the film. I downloaded the soundtrack a couple of years ago from a site that no longer exists. I'm glad I did since it's so hard to get a hold of some of those songs. Anybody else love this film?

Yep, I do. It was the first movie I bought on DVD. I was so glad I found it. The soundtrack is indeed very good.

Oh, Ali, you don't even know, I have the soundtrack too, got it from probably the same site. I think I spent most of my college years quoting this movie.

I think Real Genius is a great movie too! Val Kilmer was so good in it. He was so weird he made you like him. It was part of his charm. I'm always stunned when I'm talking 80s movies with someone and they've never heard of Real Genius.

I know what you mean Janette! I know people who have never seen Real Genius, The Lost Boys or Goonies! I always wonder how they could have missed these films. I ususally force them to sit and watch by threatening with violence.

Michelle Meyrink was kind of appealing in a dorky kind of way.
Whatever happened to Gabe Jarrett?
They always talk about one-hit musical wonders but what about those one-hit movie wonders?

I love this movie. Val Kilmer is a great actor and I am really looking foward to seeing his new film, Wonderland. Whenever my sister and I hear Everybody Wants to Rule the World, we refer to it as the "popcorn song," because we didn't know the title when we first saw the movie.

Last time I saw Gabe Jarret was in "Meet The Webbers" and a very small role in "Karate Kid 3". I'm not sure what he's doing now. As for Michelle Meyrink, she was good at playing nerds. Remember her role as Anthony Edwards love interest in "Revenge of the Nerds"? I always crack up when she's playing the accordian and singing at their party. She also played a valley girl in "Valley Girl". That too is a great movie.

Oh my gosh Ali I never made the connection with Michelle Meyrink! I usually pride myself on recognizing people in different movies. Never put the two together there. I'll have to watch Revenge of the Nerds again to see her and I'm sure it'll click that she looks like the girl from Real Genius! Too funny.
I can't imagine someone not seeing Goonies. Of course everyone has their own lives to live, but still! My husband had never seen Star Wars until a few years ago with a college friend who made him watch it! I grew up on that stuff. I guess that was from being a part of a family who liked going to the movies.

Still a really silly movie.."kent, isn't that your car?" "You know you aren't supposed to park on the campus"
So many puns, so little time...I only wish the DVD had deleted scenes. That would have been a scream.
