All I rem is it had tomatoes that made this boy an adult. Has an adventure, falls in love. At the very end of the movie though, the girl uses the same trick and becomes young with the boy and shows up in his class. He's sitting there all depressed and then an announcement of a new student, it's her, she sits beside him, she smiles, end of movie.

Ahh damn, I've seen that film too but can't remember the name of it or any specific details to help with the name search. It's going to drive me nuts all day trying to remember it

"Marco, a nine year old boy, is in love with his elementary teacher, and feels neglected by his workaholic parents. When they forget about his birthday he wishes he could grow up at once. This really happens and Marco begins a new life as an adult. He rents a room in his teacher's flat and she falls in love with him. He even fakes a kidnapping when he runs out of money but he is mistaken for the kidnapper."
Looks like they ripped off the plot of Big.

Wait no. It was along those lines. But it had to do with science, not a wish. It was also English. I remember him eating on of his fruit and growing. He tears all his close and busts his running shoes. Oh well, if no one can get it, BIG is good enough i guess. Stupid Nostalgia.

More of an apprentice than a fully fledged wizard I think logan5 is spot on! I don't remember it being a foreign film and what I remember did have a Disney feel to it - http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0094592/ There's a heap of copies of the VHS on eBay UK and now you've given me a memory itch I'll have to give it a scratch by getting a copy
