Hello, I have just finished searching the web and there WILL be a Goonies 2. THIS IS NOT A RUMOR. I have been cruising the web for three days, just to see if this rumor is true and it is, infact. I read the script and it sounds like a great movie (for a sequel). Tell me your opinions on this. I will list some websites for you at the bottom, so you guys can go there and don't think that I'm just starting a rumor.
I GOT PROOF!
http://oregon.pacificnorthwestmovies.com/TheGoonies2/ This is a terrific site. It informs you about the Goonies sequel and has an awesome picture of the cast all reunited!
http://www.thegoonies.com/ This is another great site. This is the official home of The Goonies. If you go here, you can click on a link and read the real script from The Goonies 2.
http://movies.go.com/movies/G/goonies2_2003/ This is the MOST informative site that you can find on the sequel.

i don't really want them to do a sequal cause a lot of times the sequals suck and ruin your feelings about the first one.

I heard "Beetljuice" might have a sequel made. I certainly hope not. How could they possibly make a Beetljuice 2? Its not right.

I seriously wonder about a sequel, probably the safest thing they could do is go back to the the time period of One Eyed Willy, a prequel you could say.

The Top picture is of the gang when they got together for the audio commentary on the DVD. Ive heard all the rumors too and ive also heard the gangs kids go on an adventure and its up to the goonies to get them back. The Actress and Actor who played Mamma Fratelli and Sloth passed away unfortunately. BTW has anyone ever listened to the audio commentary on the DVD if so did Donner mention anything about the sequel.

I don't really know if there should be a sequel, I mean it could be a good movie actually but most sequels I've seen totally suck so yeah. Not all of them, just most.

They have been writing scripts for a Goonies sequel since the late 90s. So far nothing has been what the director and producer deem good enough to put into motion. I doubt it will ever happen.

SlickShoes, The sequel is mentioned briefly on the DVD commentary. Corey Feldman says something like "We might be making another one of these movies, right?" and Donner said "Yeah, maybe."
Personally, I'm against the idea of a Goonies 2. Although I defanetly think there should have been a sequel to Adventures in Babysitting...after all, Daryll did say it was the greatest day of his life "...so far"

Sorry, am in a rush and haven't read through the links posted above, but are they really getting every single one of the "old" gang back? Not that I think a sequel should be made at all, but IF they are determined to do it anyway, it would be even worse if they were not complete. (I mean, someone like Sean Astin, who really made it big with LOTR, would he risk ruining his career with this?)

But then again, to be honest, if it was in the theaters I probably would refuse to go for a while and then crack and go watch it anyway... and pray that it won't ruin the original for me. So I'm hoping it'll never be made.

I agree with you baz. They just won't be able to recapture the same magic they had with the first.
Some movies have a certin mystique that make them a classic. Goonies has this and it should not be tainted by some dirty old sequel!

So hard for me to decide whether to be excited about this. If Speilberg is part of it, it may turn out to be ok...I don't know...

I don't know what to say. I mean the original means so much to me. I see Donner and Columbus are developing it so it might actually be worthy of a view. It's just that the first was so perfect and we just don't need a sequel.
I really don't know what to say. I guess I'm curious to see how the sequel would turn out. Who knows, it might actually be kinda good.

Maybe if this gets made Cindy Lauper will make a remake of the theme song.

I doubt it. She has said in the past that Good Enough was the worst song she ever recorded and that she hated it. The only reason she plays it at concerts is because her fans like it so much.
