alrighty, what was this movie, it was some kind of road race film, i guess like the C ball run films, it was a bunch of people going across the county, trying to figure out clues to know where the next spot was, and from what i recall, wierd al was in it, like he was the guy who was running the race or something, anyone know what im talking about?

You are Thinking of "Midnight Madness" (1980)
Starring David Naughton, Steven Furst, and Featuring MJ Fox. Weird Al was not in it, it was an actor named Alan Solomon, who did look a lot like the weird one. The Movie had 4 teams racing around LA in a scavenger hunt-like contest, with the finish line being the Bonneventure hotel. Great movie, funny, and available on dvd for around the 10 dollar mark. A classic!
