Kinda funny the article concludes with the question which director could bring the gang back together..
I'd say, why not go for the most obvious choice, and let Chris Columbus helm the project. He's very capable of pulling it off.

I think Chris could reunite the cast, well not sure about Jeff Cohen (Chunk) after he quit acting, his last role was in 1991. He also looks nothing like he did.

I think it would be great. Just like you said Hoff, it won't change anything with the first one. And maybe, just maybe, they can capture some magic from the first one and make a suitable sequel.

I used to worry about them but even if they are bad it won't make me think any less of the original.
There have been a few sequels or remakes that I've enjoyed, Top Gun Maverick comes to mind.
I just rewatched Red Dawn and the 2012 remake, enjoyed them both in their own right, maybe even the remake a little better. Posts: 334 | Registered: Sep 2019 | Site Updates: 0

I can't say the original has aged very well for me. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy it, just not nearly as much as I used to. So yeah, a remake or sequel wouldn't really phase me too much.

Still no Director announced but reports now say Spielberg will be a Producer.

Because it's an Amblin Entertainment production, i'm guessing.
If Warner Bros. is gonna be the distributor, i assume they won't have any issues with Columbus helming the project. I mean, i'm pretty sure they haven't forgotten he steered the first two Harry Potter films to epic (financial) success.

Yep it's Amblin, I really hope Chris Columbus is involved.
Love to see the original cast as well.
