I just heard about this Patrick Dempsey film from 1988. It stars Jennifer Connelly and Sheila Kelly and it is supposed to take place around Christmas time. Does anyone have any opinions on it?

It was just "meh" for me. I believe it was filmed in Montreal. I watched this a good while ago. I like Dempsey, Connolly and Kelly, but this movie just didn't do it for me. Can someone else chime in about the plot, etc?

I don't dislike Some Girls and do own a region 4 Australian Dvd but i would say this about it and that is that after a strong first half the movie badly loses its way and becomes a bit of a snoozefest with the only redeeming features being the stunning wintry Quebec scenery and the beautiful Jennifer Connelly.
If you spot it going cheap Jessie then I would say it's worth the gamble as it's not all bad otherwise if not perhaps skip it!

Some Girls is a must see movie for Dempsey and Connelly fans but if you´re expecting the same old story you might be disappointed. It´s pretty quirky suff but i like it. Gotta love those snowy Quebec landscapes.

I always found movie a little grating. It tries to be a dark comedy but doesn't pull it off (for me). Essentially; Dempsey goes to visit his girlfriends family for winter, and for the duration of the movie the family act like there's a giant in-joke going on that Dempsey isn't privvy to. As the viewer you feel the same way. It's interesting I suppose.
I believe the movie was edited for nudity when released on DVD.

Have this on VHS somewhere. Yes filmed around these parts! Believe Crazy Moon (1986) was Montreal based too. Great to see Connelly and Dempsey in their early roles, but plot as described is a bit of a snooze fest. For Dempsey fans, still better than Meatballs 3!

This is a lesser known movie that is cool to watch this time of year (Christmastime). Definitely a night-time watch.

This is strange, but I was thinking about this movie because everyone keeps mentioning Patrick Dempsey on social media. I feel like I should rewatch this!

I actually found out from another poster where exactly the house was filmed in Montreal. I delivered a paper right by there years ago. So cool.

Some Girls is one of my favorite movies to watch during the Winter. It has such a cozy vibe and I'm obsessed with that house. Going to visit it and some of the other locations when I go to Montreal, hopefully this year.

It's got kindof a weird vibe but like Cindy said, its also cozy and heartwarming. There definitely was a DVD release years ago. We should get a review up and try to find all the locations
