Tons of sports movies from the era...what are your favorites? I'd have to go with Rocky 3 and Vision Quest...

THRASHIN'... the best skateboard movie ever, despite the cheese. Great cast and lots of real skater legends in the background and doubling the actors on the boards.
NORTH SHORE... great surfing movie with a Hawaiian setting, some zen surf philosophy and a scorching hot Nia Peeples. My only problem is the lead guy... he should have been re-cast.
YOUNGBLOOD... Rob Lowe as an up'n'coming hockey star flanked by the likes of Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves, Cynthia Gibb and Ed Lauter. Solid soundtrack, montages and good hockey footage.
OXFORD BLUES... another Rob Lowe joint, this time seeing him enrolling into Oxford University to row crew and win the affection of a British aristocrat beauty. Harmless fun.
WINNERS TAKE ALL... enjoyable dirt bike movie with Don Michael Paul in front and every sports movie trope in the book present. Great supporting cast of familiar faces too, counting Courtney Gains, Peter DeLuise, Tony Longo, Gerardo Mejia etc.
ROCKY 3 and 4 goes without saying.

Young blood and Oxford blues are ace as is Vision quest, never seen Thrashin',Winners takes all or North shore.

I think this would be considered more a coming of age movie as opposed to a sports movie. But I'll go with it anyway. Still a favorite of mine either way.

There is a great scene of Madsen in a bed in Long Gone.
I'm a fan of DSP and Long Gone also atomik. DSP had to grow on me though. I was expecting more comedy from Quaid but his character ended up being very serious.

Field of Dreams - one of my a favorite movies of all time.
Major League - always a great watch
Caddyshack - One of the best comedies ever.
I will mention Bull Durham and All the Right Moves. I like these movies but don't love them as much as the other three.
