"The film stars Patrick Houser as Harkin Banks, a young and ambitious freestyle skier from Idaho who is determined to prove himself in a freestyle skiing competition at Squaw Valley. Along the way he teams with a pack of fun-loving incorrigibles (whose leader, Dan O'Callahan is played by David Naughton), picks up an Austrian arch-nemesis named Rudi (John Patrick Reger), and enters a love triangle with a pair of blondes, a young woman named Sunny (Tracy N. Smith) and the more mature Sylvia Fonda (played by Playboy Playmate Shannon Tweed in one of her first major film roles)." (Wikipedia)
Well, i found, bought and watched Hot Dog... the Movie last week. And what a great, great movie it is!
Directed by Peter Markle (Youngblood, Bat*21) and written by a genius called Mike Marvin who also wrote Six Pack (1982) and directed classics Hamburger: The Motion Picture and The Wraith.
I like the cast which includes Patrick Hauser (Weekend Pass, Spiker), David Naughton (Midnight Madness, An American Werewolf in London, Separate Vacations), Tracy Smith, John Patrick Reger, Frank Koppala, James Saito and a goddess called Shannon Tweed. Especially Naughton gives a great performance as ski bum O'Callahan.
I also love the ski scenes and the soundtrack is very good. Of course i enjoy the two aor god Clif Magness tunes the most.
Plenty of T&A, cool Fantasy Inn motel and Lone Star bar (wet t-shirt competition!) scenes and nice freestyle ski sequences.
Some dude here said that the R1 dvd is cut (the second lullaby performed by Houser and the end scene where Rudi Garmisch says "Beware Harkin Banks, we will meet again... Hot Dog 2!) but i don´t know if this is true because i got the Finnish VHS tape.

i've got the region 1 dvd (same as above) atomik, the movie's a lot of fun,the dvd's not great though,it's full screen only and there's no extras apart from the trailer ,the picture quality is not to shabby though, didn't realise it's rumored to be cut.
