First in an occasional series, focusing on particular actors/actresses from our favorite decade whose careers kept them busy way beyond the Eighties. First up: Meg Ryan.
Ryan made the role of the ditzy cute blonde her own in her early roles, and teamed up with Tom Hanks for several very successful movies. However, her skills took her beyond the stereotype and most of us have a fair few DVDs starring Meg.
Filmography to date:
1981 Rich and Famous 1983 Amityville 3-D 1986 Top Gun 1986 Armed and Dangerous 1987 Promised Land 1987 Innerspace 1988 D.O.A. 1988 The Presidio 1989 When Harry Met Sally... 1990 Joe Versus the Volcano 1991 The Doors 1992 Prelude to a Kiss 1993 Sleepless in Seattle 1993 Flesh and Bone 1994 When a Man Loves a Woman 1994 I.Q. 1995 French Kiss 1995 Restoration 1996 Courage Under Fire 1997 Addicted to Love 1998 City of Angels 1998 Hurlyburly 1998 You've Got Mail 2000 Hanging Up 2000 Proof of Life 2001 Kate & Leopold 2003 In the Cut 2004 Against the Ropes 2007 In the Land of Women 2008 The Deal 2008 My Mom's New Boyfriend 2008 The Women 2009 Serious Moonlight 2011 New Year's Eve 2012 Lives of the Saints
For me it's difficult to get a top 5 here, but let's have a go:
Addicted To Love - an excellent twist n the normal Romcom, and she teams up brilliantly with Matthew Broderick You've Got Mail - a guilty pleasure of mine. When Harry Met Sally - brilliant all the way through. The leads play their roles superbly as their lives become so interdependent. Joe Versus The Volcano - another guilty pleasure, and Ryan takes top billing for me in three very different roles. French Kiss - proof that the success of the romcoms was due entirely to Ryan's ability to spark her male co-stars into life.

Not a big Meg Ryan fan but here´s the top 3:
1. Innerspace 2. Armed and Dangerous 3. D.O.A.
Her role in Top Gun was small so i will leave that out. I need to watch The Presidio again soon. Don´t like her romcoms at all.

Just watched When Harry Met Sally last night. Hadn't seen it for awhile and forgot how well those two worked together. Good movie, good laughs!
