Well, i watched the original earlier today. Only seen it two times before. This movie, like all the other Friday flicks, was banned here in Finland back in the day.
Most of you people know the storyline so i won´t copy/paste it here
I like this movie. It´s the original that started the franchise. It was directed by Sean S. Cunningham (The New Kids etc.) The man is probably more famous as a producer.
The cast includes Adrianne King, Betsy Palmer, Jeannine Taylor, Robbi Morgan, Kevin Bacon and Harry Crosby among others.
I love the atmosphere in this movie, the rain, the darkness that surrounds the camp Crystal Lake - all perfect.
Of all the kills, the most famous must be the Kevin Bacon one. The genre legend, Tom Savini, did the special effects and the score was composed by another great, Harry Manfredini.
I own the finnish dvd and the UK VHS tape. The dvd included an interesting documentary. Cunningham says that after the studio found out that the movie will be a success they were talking about a sequel within days.

something tells me you're going to have a lot more fun reviewing these than you did the howling series

Part 1 and 2. Classics!! Part 3 was ok. I liked the 3-D effects. (pretty decent for that time)
I have no use for the rest. I stopped going to see them after number 4.

Watched the sequel last night and it is pure 80s horror magic!
Part 2 was directed by Steve Miner (House, Soulman, Warlock) who was one of the producers of the original. Adrianne King and Walt "doomed" Gorney (and Betsy Palmer, in a way) are back from the original but all have very small roles.
I love the new group of youngsters, cool guys and superhot girls. Amy Steel, John Furey, Kirsten Baker, Stuart Charno, Marta Kober, Lauren-Marie Taylor, Tom McBride, Bill Randolph and Russell Todd.
Norwegian born hottie Kirsten Baker
I didn´t remember much about this film, only seen it once before. So i basically jumped couple of times, especially the Amy Steel toilet scene was effective
Jason is pretty vulnerable in this one and is wearing this funny flour sack
The Kirsten Baker skinny dipping sequence is of course a classic and it was cool to spot a Kiss pinball during the bar scene.
The ending is kinda confusing but i recall that they get back to it in the beginning of the third movie.
This was also pretty succesful at the box office budget 1,2 million - gross 21,7 million.
Crystal Lake Memories; The Complete History of Friday the 13th
This is one of the greatest movie-related books out there. It covers just about everything you could possibly want to know about any of the Friday the 13th movies, from the original to the tv series, right up there to Freddy vs Jason. It features interviews with everyone from any of the series' entries who was willing to participate, and hundreds of stills, many of them in full colour !
It's an absolute must-have for anyone interested in these movies.. just trust me !

Friday Part 3 was once again directed by Steve Miner. This is another cool sequel. The movie was shot in 3D.
This time it takes 16 minutes to get into the real story. First 6 mins we get to see the ending of the part 2 again. Then comes the excellent opening credits, i love the "disco" tune Manfredini has created! After that comes the super-silly store owners sequence. Oh boy, those people deserved to be sliced
The teens in this film are the good looking girls Chris (Dana Kimmell), Debbie (Tracie Savage) and Vera (Catherine Parks). And the guys: Rick (Paul Kratka), Andy (Jeffrey Rogers) and Shelly (Larry Zerner). Oh yeah, then there´s this pot smoking couple Chuck and Chili, new village idiot Abel and this very funny, "scary" gang
Andy, Debbie and Chris looking at ya!
Shelly is a pain in the butt horror freak, always making practical jokes and this is the movie where Jason takes his iconic hockey mask from him.
We can also see Debbie reading Fangoria horror mag and see fx guru Tom Savini article. Nice touch!
For third time in a row it´s a girl who has the guts to face the evil in the end and what a chase/fight for survival it is! This is classic, early 80s horror for ya people!
The ending reminds me the movie From Beyond. The heroine survives but loses her mind. Spooky stuff.
They tried to end the series here but fans wanted more.

I'm gonna have to go with part IV: The Final Chapter as my favorite. Though the previous films are great, (part II comes in at a close 2nd), part 4 just peaked my interest more than the rest. Probably because its kind of darker and not quite as campy or cheesy as the previous movies. Though there still is plenty of cheese to laugh at. And it also has more of an actually plot that spans over the next 3 films involving the on-going battle to the death between Jason and the Tommy Jarvis character.
Cool stuff, so I will more likely at least be watching parts 4-6.

Watched Part 4 last night and like Pyro said, it´s a good one. The Final Chapter was directed by Joseph Zito (The Prowler, Missing in Action, Invasion USA etc.)
This movie starts right where the third part ended. Then we get to see the medical center sequence which includes the hot nurse (Lisa Freeman from Savage Streets) and this Axel dude fooling around. I loved the fun and sexy gym video Axel was watching
Enter the teens and the Jarvis family. I love the cast in this movie: Kimberly Beck, Corey Feldman, Crispin Glover, Judie Aronson, Erich Anderson, Barbara Howard, Lawrence Monoson, Peter Barton, Clyde Hayes and Joan Freeman.
Plus supercute twins Tina and Terri (Camilla and Carey More)
Lots of hot girls and out of all the films in the series this one has the most nudity.
It was great to see Corey Feldman in this one. He was playing a cool game in the beginning (it was Zaxxon, i believe).
Skinny dipping, Tom Savini is back doing his magic, Crispin´s crazy dance and a Lion hard rock tune.
Once again they tried to end the series but failed. People still loved the franchise (budget 1,8 million - gross 32,6) so the studio decided to continue.
The final fight between Jason, Trish and Tommy is breathtaking. Love it!
This is another Friday flick i own both the Finnish dvd and the UK VHS tape.

That dancing Crispin is even more dangerous than Jason himself !
I'm not too sure about part 4 being the most nudity-filled of the bunch though. There's some very gratuitous nudity coming in the series' next instalment, part 5; A New Beginning. Especially a scene with the suitably named actress Debi Sue Voorhees. (now that can't be a coincidence, right?)

i got a good laugh on part three when the guy was on the toilet and brought out a bottle of jack daniels and took a big swig, that is some kind of hardcore

next one part 5 was really (unitentionally) funny,i can rember the character joey goes up and offers one of the other inmates a bit of his choclate bar and ends up with a axe in his back, no idea why but this scene always had me in stitches.
plus the annoying hillbilly family with the son junior on the motorbike who keeps shouting out momma,i can remember when this was first released in the u.k on vhs the BBfC made over 1 min + of cuts for nudity, this cut footage was then reinstated many years later for its dvd release.
most of the gore i believe was initially snipped by the studio paramount and the mppa censors.
i quite enjoyed part 5 despite its many faults, plus it's got a cool track by psuedo echo in it.

J2ME, The dance looks actually a lot like African Anteater Ritual from Can´t Buy Me Love
Johnny, i don´t remember anything from part 5, i just took that line from IMDB So you may be right! I´m gonna find it out soon. I remember Debi Sue Voorhees from the movie Appointment with Fear (1985) i have. Such a fox and what a name!
Good Package, there was lots of toilet humour on part three and they never wiped their butts

I liked also this one. Something different but still very much the same. This sequel was directed by Danny Steinmann (The Unseen, Savage Streets).
The cast is pretty good: Melanie Kinnaman, John Shepherd, Shavar Ross, Richard Young, Juliette Cummins, Tiffany Helm, Jerry Pavlon, Debi Sue Voorhees etc. It was also cool to see Corey Feldman again, he came to do the cameo while shooting The Goonies.
Tiffany Helm as Violet.
Like young warrior said, Dominick Brascia was ultra annoying as Joey So were Ethel and Junior. The Joey axe murder scene was the only thing i remembered from this movie so it must have been shocking back in the day. Well, it still is.
Debi Sue Voorhees was superhot and i liked Tiffany Helm too. She did this cool robot dance while listening the great Pseudo Echo tune "His Eyes". The Van sequence with Demon (Miguel A. Núñez Jr.) and Anita (Jere Fields) was also fun. And we got to see another toilet kill in the series
In the end it seems that Tommy will be the next killer but fans wanted Jason back. So Jason will rise from his grave in Friday 6.
