Watched The Surrogate (or Bizarre Murders like it´s called here) last night and it was a good little Canadian thriller. The movie was directed by Don Carmody, a veteran producer (Porky´s, Meatballs III etc.) This was the only movie he directed.
The cast is good: Art Hindle (The Octagon, Porky´s), Shannon Tweed, Carole Laure, internationally-known drag queen Jim Bailey, Michael Ironside, Marilyn Lightstone and Barbara Law as Maggie Simpson
I loved the very Cronenberg like settings and feeling and the score composed by Daniel Lanois (U2, Peter Gabriel) is good and atmospheric. You can also hear tunes from artists like The Euryhmics, Mr. Mister and Nona Hendryx.
Psychiatrists and fantasy sex therapy, steamy bath and sauna sequences, Porsche cars and a mysterious killer on the loose. Cool little thriller recommended for canuxploitation fans!
